School children are lead by a teacher in a chant that begins with "I will be anything I want to be."
At one point during the incantation the teacher asks the students to repeat the phrase "I am an Obama scholar."

asks the students to repeat the phrase "I am an Obama scholar." They should aim higher than that. Have there learned that there are only 50 states? 4 letters in the word JOBS? An inhalator is different than a breathalyzer?

It's called a kufi and is normally worn in traditional West African dress with a dashiki.
It is supposed to be worn to signify a "wise elder" but in America it has become ubiquitous to the point of losing significance. (It's real meaning to most who wear it is that it is something that's not White.)
If you want to have some fun, just ask someone wearing a kufi what it means and why they wear it - or, better yet - what tribe they come from.

They are Obama scholars.
They are ignorant of American history, they are inexperienced, they have no proven record of achievement, and as far as we know they don’t understand math or science. BEST POST OF THE DAY!

Pathetic... I think I’ll give the foolish teacher (the supposed adult involved) most of the “credit”, i.e. blame. Plug-in the name of any of the presidents (Buchanan, Garfield, Wilson, Roosevelt, Clinton, Reagan...) and the chant is still pretty creepy and somewhat out of keeping with the American principle of a government of laws and not men.

WTF !
Bad enough my son who is 11 had to sing Hannah Montana songs in music class and the teacher even went to go as far as to tell the boys not to show disagreement to it with the penalty of going to the principal’s office. I told him that he and the boys should have colluded to defy the teach all at once !
This deserves defiance !
