Hey everyone, I was wondering if any of you could suggest any books or resources concerning the circumstances of European refugees in America after WWII.
I am descended from Polish immigrants and was wondering about their plight with regards to sponsorship, government programs available and general procedure that these people went through to get here and how they fared in those times.
Many Thanks!!!

Depending on the situation, you should look up the history of the White Eagle Lodges in the metro area your family first arrived in the States.
Some of the Polish fraternal organizations in Greenpoint Brooklyn that sponsored immigrants, are still going strong today.
Late 40 and early 50’s had displaced persons put to the front of the list for the quotas from each country, that’s what has always been repeated to me, griping about the quota system in place.
