Lag time on Free Republic

For the last few days, both my computers started having trouble loading Free Republic pages, sometimes taking several minutes. I've noticed more than usual multiple postings for the same Freepers which tells me they are having the same problems. Has this been a problem with other users or it it just my problem? Thanks

I installed Turbofreep works great now

type "IPCONFIG(space) /FLUSHDNS (Enter)

exit (Enter)

restart your browser and GO.

The server is always the problem, especially a site as busy as FR. This requires enormous amounts of your money. :)

In several threads early this morning, "jellybean" (class of 1998) mentioned that FR is temporarily down to one server due to equipment failure and the explanation is overload.

I just miss Jim or John reporting to us so we don't kick our computers...

I can’t get on the main link when I Google.....even on my Blackberry. I scrolled down to the ‘activist/forum’ link and it seems to be connecting better. Was VERY slow earlier....but seems to have picked up this eve.

I’ve had trouble the last few days but eventually I’m able to load the link. I assumed it was ongoing maintenance.
I think it was Sat or Sun that all day it was down. I finally got on in the evening for awhile.

Bigtime....and only with FR. Very frustrating.

A tiny bit better this evening, though -- however still a slug.

FR usually goes down within a day of my kicking in....weird.

That isn’t the issue, my testing says it is the server not serving up the pages.

It helped reducing the number of threads returned.

Some kind of performance issue on the server.

Freerepublic could be rewritten to serve pages quicker with less bandwidth. The design is quite outdated now.
