Mel Gibson caught using racist, sexist slurs on tape, reports say
Cleveland.com ^ | 7/2/10 | Melodie Smith

In an audio tape apparently recorded by the mother of his infant daughter, Mel Gibson is heard using racist and misogynistic language, reportedly calling ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva “an embarrassment” and telling her, “You look like a f—king pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n—ers, it will be your fault.”

The tape's contents were first reported by RadarOnline, which also claimed to have heard it. According to the site, Grigorieva made the recordings "during a series of explosive arguments" between the couple, who split in April and who are currently in a financially tinged custody battle involving their 8-month-old daughter, Lucia. Records in the case are sealed -- at least, they're supposed to be.

Only because he appears to be conservative on better moments.

Now Obama, the boy child, can do and say whatever he wants as he destroys our country.

Well, one thing for sure is that Mel Gibson is naive, clueless, drunk, or drugged out.

Doesn’t he know how famous he is & that this woman might record him?

He should have stayed with his wife who put up with his rants & didn’t record it.

Time hasn’t been kind to poor Nick either, lol. Still, back in the day, he was a hunk!

I hope he didn’t really say some of those things. Maybe it’s really just another tape of Alec Baldwin talking to his daughter. ;^)

I do agree he’s become (or maybe always was) an idiot. I suspect years of substance abuse. His wife probably held him together as long as she could. And he is very talented, combined with rugged good looks, a winning combo. But this business of recording private moments and then using them to ruin people is just crazy. We all say things, that if recorded would look very bad. It says as much about the recorder as about the recorded.

I am interested to know why you are interested.

This is a big story.

We are watching the self-destruction of a Hollywood superstar Christian family man,who was married for 30 years, with 8 children.

The next story will be about rehab.

Agree 100%. Private moments should be private. Sort of reminds me of the old Soviet Russia where family members were told to spy on the others.

I appreciate your commentary..I had forgotten his background.

Do you have an opinion as to that which may have precipitated the transformation?

Not defending Mel....I'm as deeply disappointed as anyone who really liked him...

..but don't you think Mel is not the exception in Hollywoodland when it comes to graphic language, sick ideas and shenanigans.

I bet most of the directors, actors, producers....yes, even little Opie.... can curse worse than a sailor (all due respect to sailors)...

..and have gone through women (as objects) like kleenex!

You know, you’re right. I hadn’t thought of that, but that may be why it bothers me so. And people have no honor. It’s all about what others can do for them, or what they can squeeze out of someone even if it means destroying that person.

In all of Gibson's signature works (didn't see Passion of the Christ, so can't comment on it) there is a recurring theme of Gibson as a man who desperately wants the idyllic family life. His character usually has a haunted past. In Braveheart it was the murder of his family, in the Patriot it was the atrocities he committed during the Indian wars. At some point, there is a critical incident and he becomes the raging avenger. In these movies, he is always a character who struggles mightily with demons that delve within him, just below the surface.

The idyllic life is taken away, usually by a villainous army that destroys his family. Of course, in the movies, that idyllic life is pretty boring. Anyone watching the movies goes, "Yeah, yeah. Let the English guy kill his wife and he can get to kicking some @ss." It's obvious Braveheart was having a lot more fun beheading Englishmen and sacking villages than he would have had living in mud and herding pigs. The character NEEDED the atrocity to become self-fulfilled and provide a reason for the serious Englishman beheading that was to follow, but even if the atrocity hadn't occurred, he would have rather been out there with half his face painted blue, acting crazy.

I think these movies are a depiction of Gibson's inner mental state. Less than ten years ago, Gibson was noted as being a devout and strict Catholic. He commented on occasion about his early years in Hollywood and the depravity of his conduct, then. He flipped from being the wild playboy to being the super devout Catholic. Still, he wrestled with his inner demons, and finally, it looks like the demons have won out. Without a physical enemy to commit the atrocities and for him to vent his frustrations on, he mentally broke on his own, and the wife and then his girlfriend were the recipients of the rage, instead of Longshanks.

Yeah, I’m with you on this. Just replace Glenn with Mel’s picture and I am THERE!

Of course like the other poster, I am just sad that he was fool enough to do the typical ‘run off with the younger woman’.

That picture is SO photoshopped. LOL

Of course they didn’t have to do much to it.

I’m starting to think that perhaps one should be able to counter sue someone who publicizes something they recorded that was said in private. This is getting crazy. Where do we draw the line?

We do not draw the line anywhere--we treasure our 1st Amendment rights while we still have them.

In post 36 I outlined some of my thoughts on Gibson. While Hollywood provided the temptation, I think most of the demons were in Mel all along.
