I am looking for the best (easiest to use) free video editing software.
I used to use Windows MovieMaker but I recently got a new laptop (Windows 7) and it has no video editing program.
CUTE PSP VIDEO

I’m interested, too. I use Corel Ulead 11, but I’m not that impressed. I want something that’s easy, quick to learn and can do everything a major movie studio can.
Bump for later.
The Muvee products are really easy to use and produce great results. They aren’t free but are very reasonable.Heres 2 youTube vids I made with Muvee:

please keep in mind I’m using nothing but a Flip camera, if you use a better cam you’ll have better images to work with.
iMovie
:)

Wow! I’m impressed! I’m going check into that software. You did some amazing stuff!
I’m a songwriter and want to do videos for the music. I’ve done a few things but want to learn how to REALLY make videos. It a lot more fun then recording, in my book. I realize recording is a necessary evil or there wouldn’t be any music to make videos for.
go to the microsft website, there is a download that works with Windows 7
Self Ping for later after some options show up.
“iMovie”?
Ya nailed that one! Easy... Simple & it works.
I WANT AN IPHONE ON VERIZON!!!

Try Sony "Las Vegas" package, I believe it would satisfy your last criteria, however it nether "quick" nor "easy" and it's certainly not free. I bought a copy to turn some family VHS tapes into DVDs and got lost in the details of using the editor. It's way more program then I need and I got frustrated with the human interface (their documentation is rather weak). I solved the problem with hardware. There is a "junk" catalog (Heartland) which carries a lot of overruns, last years models, and inventory reduction tecno-gadgets at discount prices. I bought a $600+ Sony deck for about $100 w/S&H. It works just fine for what I needed.
Don't misunderstand, the Sony suite of media editing/authoring software is very good (professional grade) and if that's your idea of what you need, go for it.

videohelp.com is a good site for free editing software.
If you really want powerful capabilities for free, you might want to investigate the Jahshaka program. The latest version is freely downloadable from CNet and SourceForge. More information about the program (now known as CineFX) can be found at http://www.cinefx.org
The program is more than just a video editor. It uses a node-based system to serve as a video compositor as well. Think of it as fusing some of the capabilities of Adobe’s Premiere and After Effects, all in one app.
But be warned: it takes patience and skill to learn how to work your way around the interface, and to deal with some of the tweaky operational issues that drive away most of those who install and try to use the program.
