Doesn’t Sergio know he needs to clear this stuff with Baraq and Ron Bloom before releasing it to market?

Doesn’t seem to be a smart place to keep a rifle. How in the hell are you gonna be able to shoot traffic signs with the damn thing in the rear? Silly engineers.

I guess it’d be useful, but a total of $2000+ for what amounts to just a couple of toolboxes impinging into the truck bed? Doesn’t strike me as good value.

I would attach a gun rack to my bicycle before I'd drive a Dodge.

Only an anti-American fool would by a government built truck.

Wonder if this is like one of those halo type marketing things. That the gun rack is not really meant to drive sales in volume of the lockbox, but rather more image and good PR to the brand.

I’d give Chrysler a pat on the back for this, but after Obama’s influence in that company I’m not going near them or GM for a long, long time.

Nice. Added waterproof storage on the sides at the cost of bed space. Might as well get an SUV. At least then you’ll have an extra seat.

This little/lockable trunk apparently costs $2000 as an extra.

This considerably larger/lockable trunk is standard on the Honda Ridgelines.

It doesn't look strong enough. A good service bed has STRONG locks, heavy gage steel and is alarmed. That's cause if you have a service bay, you probably own 30-50k worth of quality tools.

I don't want something that can be easily pried open, or cut open with truck mounted air tools. But, a good service bed is not very pretty.

Hell, for no extra cost, my 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe has enough storage under the rear cargo area to carry a Mossberg 500 (pistol grip, 18.5" barrel), a 28" barrel and original stock for same, a Ruger 10/22 with scope in soft case, a Winchester model 94 (carbine in gun sock), an SKS with TAPCO stock (removed the adjustable stock part of it), several boxes of ammo, targets, and a Springfield XD 40 subcompact in original box. Granted, it was tight, but it all fit and the lid closed.

Unfortunately, I recently lost all these weapons in a freak boating accident...

I've never liked the idea of leaving guns in unattended vehicles. Breaking into and stealing my car is one thing. Getting my gun at the same time would be more than I could bear.
Once criminals recognize what these gun compartments contain, they'll just increasingly target these vehicles.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.
