He spoke earlier today at the third annual National Clean Energy Summit (webcast here), and was pretty blunt about the dire nature of our current situation:
The current status quo is an illusion.
The true cost of our continued dependence on fossil fuels was illustrated by the BP disaster.
The true cost of a gallon of gasoline is by some estimates $6 a gallon.
The cost to our health, the cost to our security, and the cost to the environment of our addiction to fossil fuels has distorted our economy.
Ocean acidification is indisputable science

And the beat goes on....!
You could shove all the stuff we read daily in front of his face and he would still be a global warming freak. Put another way. An idiot.
Will he attack the Discovery Channel, too?
Or is he just fishing for more government Grant Money?
I have to get out of this muck...be back later.
Even dumber than the old man and gramps.
John Doerr is a filthy rich venture capitalist who is obviously betting heavily on the AGW myth to make him even more money. He knows nothing and cares nothing about real science.
YO Hey Phil put a sock in it,then go tell the Chinese to stop using 50% of the soft coal mined on earth for starters. BTW did your old man ever find any treasure down there? if so did he report it?
The green seaweed propagates by DNA replication...break a piece in half and you get two seaweed plants.
Two decades ago, a Stuttgart zoo imported a lush, bright green seaweed for its aquarium. Caulerpa taxifolia was captively bred by the zoo and exposed, for years, to chemicals and ultraviolet light. Eventually a sample of it found its way to the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco, then headed by Jacques Cousteau. Fifteen years ago, while cleaning its tanks, that museum dumped the pretty green plant into the Mediterranean. This supposedly benign little plantthat no one thought could survive the waters of the Mediterraneanhas now become a pernicious force. Caulerpa taxifolia now covers 10,000 acres of the coasts of France, Spain, Italy, and Croatia, and has devastated the Mediterranean ecosystem. And it continues to grow, unstoppable and toxic.
Translation:
“Time is running out for me to get government grants and film television specials.”
It cost money to fund reckless exploration.
You don’t think they have wine on those ocean going sub-carrying all expense paid by the taxpayer ships?!
who funded his daddy way back when.
BP?
geeesh.. there are worse things than fossil fuels..
like subsidized programs for energy gadgetry..
I use to love watching the Cousteau programs....little did I know ....
I went to high school with one of Jacques Cousteau’s grandsons, the kid was an idiot.
Thank god we have Phillip Quixote to slay those mythical dragons.
**************************EXCERPT******************************
Caulerpa taxifolia is a species of seaweed, an alga of the genus Caulerpa. Native to the Indian Ocean, it has been widely used ornamentally in aquariums. The alga has a stem which spreads horizontally just above the seafloor, and from this stem grow vertical fern-like pinnae, whose blades are flat like yew, hence the species name "taxifolia" (the genus of yew is "Taxus"). The alga produces a large amount of a single chemical that is toxic to fish and other would-be predators. This is in contrast to other plants which produce a variety of toxins, but in reduced amounts.
It is one of two alga on the list of the world's 100 worst invasive species compiled by the IUCN Invasive Species Specialist Group.
Florida is safe,...they have slug that likes the seaweed...and the water is warmer.
