In PC Magazine's Readers' Choice Survey 2010, Apple simply dominates:
Computer Notebooks
Readers' Choice: Apple Inc.
No other company comes anywhere close to Apple's ratings.
Computer Desktops
Readers' Choice: Apple Inc.
Apple sweeps the category, with the highest ratings in everything from the reliability of the computers to the technical support and repair service the company provides.
Cellphones
Readers' Choice for AT&T: Apple Inc.
Apple continues to improve its smartphones. Top rated for smartphone OS, Apple also had higher satisfaction ratings for application availability, games, and music player (iPod).
Portable Media Players
Readers' Choice: Apple Inc.
With a line of PMPs ranging from the tiny Shuffle to the do-everything iPod Touch, Apple continues to lead the way.
Network Routers
Readers' Choice: Apple Inc.
Apple's AirPort routers work great with Mac and Windows systems (as well as all the other Wi-Fi devices you have). As in so many categories, Apple stands head and shoulders above the competition.

If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
Oh that’s just FUD.
Hahaha, I kid!
Monopoly!!
Got a macbook pro for the daughter going to college. She whips her fingers around on that thing and makes it do all sorts of neat stuff. Plus it’s got a nicer internal speaker than my hp.
My i3 iMac should be shipping at any moment. My 20” monitor (Dell, BTW) is gonna be rotated into portrait mode and sit next to it. My trusty Mac Mini is gonna go sit next to the TV as a home theater box. As a bonus, since I like the wired keyboard I already have, the Bluetooth keyboard that comes with the new Mac is going to become a companion for the iPhone.
Okay, so I’m a little excited about this. Don’t judge me.
Wins notebooks, desktops, phones, PMPs, Wi-FiWell, sure, but what about everything else? ;') ;') :'D
Mac-nificent!
Apple tops in “PC” Mag? Again?
Yeah. Because Apple IS a PC. It’s just not cheap Dell, Sony, Acer, Gateway plastic JUNK. And it’s not Microsoft’s bloated VIRUS ridden software.
Nah, probably the Apple Fanatics FREEPed the poll. Yeah, that's the ticket. Had to be.... :)
Now, now, Rachel, I think that's an unfair slam. I have bought and used Microsoft software since 1976 or so, and to my knowledge, I have never seen evidence of a virus in the Microsoft product itself.
Microsoft doesn't have to write the viruses themselves. There are plenty of independent freelancers doing that already.
Now, OTOH, so-called "features" that could qualify as "spyware", that's another story... :)
Oh yeah, I agree. I sure didn’t mean to suggest they INTENTIONALLY put viruses in there.... I am just saying that a few months ago we heard from the usual suspects that WIN 7 was just as virus proof as OSX. Then of course the other week we found out NO.... it has the SAME major flaw that ALL windows OS’s have had and POOF viruses all over began to exploit it.
So I just calling Virus RIDDEN. The word means: afflicted, affected, or dominated by something specified. In this case, the many viruses which exploit the aforementioned BLOATED code.
= )
I know, I was just having a little fun there...

Well, none of my Windows systems have viruses on them, and only about half have anti-virus software as such. I run scans from time to time, but they're clean. I practice damn safe computing and am very careful.
Most viruses (and other malware) these days are caught by users who don't know enough to avoid them. They visit porn sites, download and install "free" programs of unknown provenance with gay abandon, open email attachments from strangers, and then wonder that they catch things.
How else is it the case that there's any malware specific to OS-X -- it certainly isn't because the virus writers have learned at last how to break BSD... it's because it's trivial to exploit the stupidity and/or naivete of the user.
Anyway, Windows has improved immensely with regard to its susceptibility to attack. It's still (IMO) not up to OS-X/BSD, but it's finally getting within spitting distance.
I figured YOU were... but these threads are NOT fun these days... and I am just gonna be flat in my replies.
OK, I won't call you a fanboy... ;^)>
I do great with any of the above overpriced crap. To those who want to donate their money to Steve Jobs and Apple for an ego boost, go right ahead. I donate to other charities. When I buy computer stuff I go for the best value for my money and Apple is a big FAIL on that
As far as numbers.... Last computer I put together January 2010... dual core Athlon Regor 245
$100 for mobo&processor. Mobo has great video
$35 memory
$25 PS
$0 for case
$40 for HD
$20 for DVD writer/reader
I could do just as well right this moment but memory would be $82 (4 GB Crucial) and would get a new SATA-DVD unit for $20
The above numbers are why I have only disdain for the Apple rip-off machine. Like I said, you can donate to Apple as a charity donation but if you take Jobs for real it should only be as a huckster....same as 0bongo is a huckster. Matter of fact 0bongo modeled himself after Uncle Stevie
There's a big difference between us. I like quality. Even building my own system I would never use a $25 PSU that has maybe a 60% efficiency rating, puts out inconsistent voltages across loads, and has a low life expectancy due to cheap parts.
$0 for case
Same here. Cheap cases mean high noise, poor thermal management and being a pain to work with.
