Y’know, someone once mentioned that most of those Ten Commandments’ tablets in courthouse squares that the ACLU has spent years trying to extirpate were donated as a publicity stunt by the studio for the 1956 movie.

I also read in the paper today that Debbie Reynolds, because of financial difficulties, will have to let her vast Hollywood memorabilia collection go to auction.
Includes dress and red slippers worn by Judy Garland in “The Wizard of Oz”, a costume worn by Heston in “Ben-Hur”, a hat worn by Vivien Leigh in “Gone With the Wind”, among thousands of other items.

a piece of the Statue of Liberty's nose made but not used during a 1980s restoration A cover story.
The Leningrad Cowboys manager stole Lady Liberty's nose in Leningrad Cowboys Meet Moses.
It was a controversial act.

Which Maltese Falcon is being auctioned, is what I wonder. There were many of them made for the movie and sources disagree as to how many.
Bogart dropped the first one, made of lead, and damaged the tail feathers. After that, Warner Brothers made some of plastic resin and some of lead - the Maltese Falcon was supposed to be solid gold and it was easier for the actors to 'act' as if they were handling a solid gold falcon when they were passing around the ones made of lead.
My replica is made of plaster . . . which begs the question: Is the stuff dreams are made of lead, plastic resin, or plaster?
I stopped counting the times I've seen The Maltese Falcon at 40, Casablanca at 80. I've seen 68 of his movies at least once and threw an annual Bogart party for years.
If nothing else, everyone should see his Jack Warner 'punishment' film, Swing Your Partner, at least once - a Li'l Abner-style hillbilly, professional wrestling, musical. I kid you not.
