Sorry to hear that about your experience with parrots. I have an 11-year old female Orange Wing Amazon, and a 8-year old male African Gray. With the exception of my Gray having feather plucking problems (common to the species), both seem to be well adjusted. Well, my Amazon thinks she's the Queen of Sheba and everything in the house belongs to her, but other than all that attitude, she's a sweetheart.

A friend of ours owned a parrot that wouldn't learn to talk and all it did was make a horrible sound. It drove the guy nuts. He couldn't figure out why his parrot continued to make such an annoying and loud noise.

One time we had the occasion to spend the night at his apartment. In the middle of the night we were awakened to the horrible sound, and thought it was the parrot. But, no, the noise was coming from the fellow's bedroom. Mystery solved...the parrot had learned to imitate the guy's snoring! LOL

There's a guy I play softball with and during the summer months he and his wife bring out their birds. A parakeet which is "his" and a parrot which is "hers".........

The parakeet is friendly as all get out and walks around the picnic table and climbs up on everybody and hangs from their ball caps looking into their sunglasses at its reflection... Its a real hoot!

The parrot on the other hand, according to Dave, is attached to his wife and will actually kill the parakeet if given the chance. The parrot is bonded to the wife and will not accept any other individuals including Dave..........
