Girzzly Bear vs. Bison on Montana Road
3 KRTV.COM Great Falls, Montana ^ | 10/30/2010 | Drew Tafton

"I thought it was a horse and carriage," said Wypyszinski. "That was the kind of noise that I heard."

By the time he turned around, the two fuzzy brown images were racing quickly toward him.

Wypyszinski pulled out his camera quickly, thinking he was going to catch two moose racing down the highway.

He quickly learned he was mistaken.

"I thought I was having a hallucination or something," said Wypyszinski. "I couldn't believe what that buffalo looked like."

The huntsman for the Reich was Hermann Goering. Himmler and the SS hated hunting and killing animals. Indeed, on October 4, 1943, Himmler declared in a speech before the SS that the Germans “were the only nation of the world with a decent attitude toward animals.”

It's interesting to see that the bear leaves the ground when running fast. Do NOT even think you can outrun one!

The huntsman for the Reich was Hermann Goering.

Europe's still dealing with his introduction of raccoons to the Black Forest.

Please tell me how the bison got burned. Do not the animals of Yellowstone know to stay away from the vents and such? Guess not.

I read about that too. However, people do not understand that the reason why Goering brought that critter into the Black Forest was precisely because it was an invasive species. Invasive species, being invasive and non-indigenous, could thus be shot and killed without any concern (like Jews). Hitler also chided Goering for his love of the hunt, but Goering was a greener too. His love of the hunt was very religious. He was in fact Aldo Leopold’s counterpart in Germany. Leopold loved to hunt too.

From the article, I got the impression that there had been were forest fires in various places, but then what to make of all the snow? Perhaps there was forest fire up until the snow came in. This last week was the first real snow of the fall season.

Looks like the griz got some surprise on the bison, judging from the apparent wounds and hair in the flank. Probably got away, but depends on how deep those wounds were.

My first impression when I saw the pix was that the Grizzly had already mauled the bison, and that the bison had gotten away and was on the run. But then the photographer said the bison was burned - which I thought was really strange. How would he know that? Those flesh wounds also look pretty new to me, and look much more like grizzly work than a fire or perhaps a falling into a melting pot through the snow?
