Westboro Baptist lunatics may be operating tomorrow....

Lance Cpl. Terry Honeycutt, a 19-year-old, was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan in late October. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at New Life Church in La Plata. Phelps-Roper said she plans to picket from 9:15 a.m. to the start of the service with a group of six to seven members of the Westboro Baptist Church.

The Honeycutt family was made aware of the planned protest via Facebook on Friday, but Terry’s mother Christine is not concerned about the picketers.

“We kind of expected it,” she said. “We’ve seen it before and read about, as a military family, these people go all over the country to funerals of fallen soldiers.”

A .pdf flyer issued by WBC says they will also be at Arlington Cemetery.

A contingent of homeschoolers from Herndon/Reston area are intent upon being there to act as human shields and pay respects to the family. If anyone wants to join us....we will be near the front gate whether WBC is there or not. LaPlata is too far for us, but Arlington is reachable. Patriot Guard will also be accompanying the family.

So I have to honestly ask myself...If an IED went off outside where they nutty baptists live, would military veterans be sad. Just asking....

While I would certainly never advocate doing anything violent, It would certainly not break my heart to see these people get the vigorous ass-kicking they all so richly deserve.

I would also never advocate stooping to vandalism, but it would not break my heart either if someone discovered where these fanatics park their cars and made sure they were all taking the bus home from their latest protest.

Just sayin’.

They are also not Christian (even if the media likes to paint them as such). They are cultists known as Tachmonites who have their own scripture divided into two categories: “delectable epics” and “letters to heretics.” The “delectable epics” (the term is the group’s) are based loosely on Acts in the New Testament. The epics detail the Tachmonites’ various protests against gays, President Bush, Elton John concerts, and the military and portray the Tachmonites alternately as invincible “super heroes” and defenseless victims of brutal rage. Some of the epics are in prose, and some in poetry. They believe Phelps is “the last prophet,” with the power to determine who will be damned and who will be saved. They themselves, as followers of Phelps, also have the power to condemn souls to hell.

These are sick, sick people. A local radio host here in the Augusta area gave them an hour on the air if they would not protest at a local soldier’s funeral. I listened to most of it. I have heard a great many people on the air that I think are out of their minds that I was able to just pass off as “airing their opinions”. These disgusting cretins are using God’s word as nothing more than an attention-getting device.

I will refrain from answering, as a military veteran, least I make an unchristian like comment on the Sabath.

“They are also not Christian...”

Thank you for posting that info. I absolutely hate it when the media refers to this group as “Baptists” or “a Christian group”. There is nothing Christian about them. Just a fringe group of nut-jobs (IMHO).

They are NOT “just a fringe group of nut-jobs...”.

Several of this family have law degrees...and they sue anyone who will not let them protest..then they make a fortune using our system...they are as bad as the terrorists.

this is a deliberate money making scheme. I don’t even think they are “anti gay” or have any anti military feelings...I think this is just a money making racket. they take advantage of our freedom of speech and have a money making conspiracy!

I’m also a vet. Presumably these people have a church and hold services on some scheduled basis. I’m surprised I don’t hear about their services being disrupted by people with boom boxes, people talking, singing, dancing in the pews, etc. If I lived near there I would happily lead a Rosary during their survice. ;-) On the other hand would the msm report it if it did happen?

I have an idea, since you are the “Picture expert” on this forum. Have any pictures from the movie “Wrong Turn or Wrong Turn II” to post about Westboro Baptist? Some how it just kinda fits when talking about the Phelps clan. I for one am tired of these backward hicks.

Well you know what? Lets see, “Lance Cpl. Terry Honeycutt, a 19-year-old, was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan in late October”
Lets give Lance Cpl Terry Honeycutt a 21 gun salute and kinda aim the guns at Westboro Baptist at they are protesting! How does that sound? Am I a Genius or what?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Phelps

"Phelps is a disbarred lawyer, founder of the Phelps Chartered law firm, a past civil rights activist in Kansas, and a Democrat who has five times been a candidate for political office in Kansas Democratic Party primaries."
