I took a few years of German. Basic rule of thumb is that when you have the letter i followed by an e, the word is pronounced as if it were an e. When the letter e is followed by an i, the word is pronounced as if it were an i. Wiener is pronounced Weener. Weiner is pronounced Whiner. The rights of the producer of the wealth are relevant here. The producer, through the concept of ownership, has the right to use and dispose of his own property while he is alive, which includes being able to choose the recipient of his property after he is dead.No one else is entitled to make that choice.
