I absolutely love ‘The Quiet Man.’ Then again, I grew up w/one of the biggest John Wayne fans ever, complete with a large portrait of the Duke in my our house (it’s still hanging there!).

Would it cease to be a good movie if all that crap was taken out? In the critics' eyes, probably.
The point of the story, I think, was that ballet is not all beauty and grace, but lots of pressure, back-stabbing and in-the-moment living. Something I knew, knowing someone who was an aspiring dancer until a knee injury did her in. How it was handled, however, was the most controversial and disappointing part.
