Yesterday we had a thread about favorite Christmas albums, so today I thought I would post one to ask everybody: What are the WORST Christmas songs ever recorded?

Mr. Roboto by Styx is the "Worst Overall Song Ever. Period. End of Story."

Hence it fits neatly at the top (bottom) of any "Worst Song" list anywhere and everywhere no matter how you interpret the song.

I like the cut of your jib.

true that.

And I'll nominate: "Grandma got run over by a reindeer." I hear one note of this song and I say a little prayer wishing it was July 4th.

“Merry Christmas, Darling.” A voice of hot buttered rum. She starved herself to death. Karen, Karen. (Shakes head)

My favorite female vocalist by far. A terrible Christmas album (not her fault but her dopey brother's.)

A sad loss.

Disco Santa by Holiday Express. Done to the tune of the Village People’s YMCA (the refrain is N-O-E-L).

The horror. The horror.

“...Porky Pig version of “Blue Christmas”.”

Are you joking or is there such a song? If it exists could you post a sound file for all of us to pirate?

You're welcome.
Mental Health counseling should be available for little or no charge in your county. I encourage you to set up an appointment soon.

“Merry Christmas, Darling.”

Awwwww, I hope this isn’t going to be on the list for worst ever. It’s one of my favorites. You’re right on with your description of her voice:

“hot buttered rum”.

Wow! You set the bar high!
I’d have to add :
‘The Little Drummer Boy’ sung by any adult. It just sounds stupid unless sung by a child( and is it ever?) especially the ‘pa rum pa pa pum’ refrain.
“ Santa Baby”- just sleazy.
Anything killed by Elvis or Mariah Carey. The fist sounds like moaning death, the other tries to sound ‘sexy’ and screeches.
“ Christmas Shoes”- sentiment noted, but death in a Christmas song adds no joy to the season for me.

More later- I just turned on the continuous Christmas music station...

Nothing can top those three for being horrendously awful songs, but please add your entries to our list of dreadful musical celebrations of the season.

With the possible exception of all the remakes of those songs.
John Lennon singing a song about War being Over 30 years ago, ho-hum.Product of the times.
Someone else re-recording it in twenty-n-n?? Why? Do you think you're better than Lennon?

"Die Hard"

Ah, c'mon! Die Hard is a great Christmas movie! And it includes Christmas as part of the plot, even if it has nothing to do with the Nativity or stuff like that. It's definitely a better Christmas movie than, say, "Home Alone". (Although "Home Alone" is a great Christmas album.)

Michael Bolton! Gaaa- nothing like someone who sounds like they’re constipated and straining singing a Christmas song.

Michael Buble- Trying to sound like Sinatra is bad enough, but trying to sound like Sinatra doing Christmas makes me queasy. The droning, talking old bar lizard sound doesn’t work with Christmas.

This is Christmas, War is Over, by John Lennon
Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time, by Paul McCartney

Yes, these are at the top of my "delete from playlist" priorities. More proof, too, that Lennon and McCartney succeeded as a team mostly by each canceling out the worst proclivities of the other.

Sorry Rush, But I can’t stand that Manhiem Steamroller crap. Also any current pop artist trying to put their own twist on an otherwise good Christmas song. I like the old classics.
