12/21/2010

Posted on 12/21/2010 6:50:05 AM PST by VRWCmember

Yesterday we had a thread about favorite Christmas albums, so today I thought I would post one to ask everybody: What are the WORST Christmas songs ever recorded?

Nostalgia Critic does "Star Wars Holiday Special." Beware--it's painful, but it's almost worth it to see the look on Harrison Ford's face that screams "I'd rather be ANYWHERE else, doing ANYTHING else!"

Also, I believe it's Life Day, not Earth Day.

I heard a rendition of “The Christmas Waltz” that sounded like Frank Sinatra that was absolutely awful because of the way he and the chorus that sang with him changed tempos so much that it sounded like it was anything but 3/4 time - maybe 8/7 or 6/11 or something. There was NO WAY anyone could even attempt to follow the beat, let alone waltz to the performance.

I would always be “Second Worse Singer On Earth”.

Never having the pleasure of listening to your voice, I would still say that Neil Young & Bruce Springsteen would fight it out for the number 2 & 3 positions.

I am afraid you'll have to settle for fourth place.

America’s least-loved Christmas song is a Danish recording of “Jingle Bells,” performed in dog barks.

Didn’t Neil Diamond and BarBra both record Christmas albums?

Guess there is more money in Christmas music than Hanukkah music.

John Denver: “Please Daddy, don’t get Drunk this Christmas!”

I thought it was "Please Daddy, Don't Fly Your Experimental Plane This Christmas!"

I don’t know. I haven’t listened to it in 30 years! (Hey, maybe I could get on Pawn Stars with it!)

There are some truly teeth-gnashingly awful performances of Christmas tunes that somehow found their way onto records and CDs. I don’t count those as “legitimate” since they are just cover tunes and were just cranked out to fill an album.

It is the big time production features that are obviously done “on purpose” and supposed to be impressive that turn out so horrendously wretched that crack me up.

Elton John’s “Step Into Christmas” is another one. What a terrible Christmas song. Yuck.

"But they even made a Lifetime Channel movie based on that song. Starring Chad Lowe."

Lifetime Channel?
