4 June 1940 ... and today

Often I hearken back to Winston Churchill’s speech:

4 June 1940

"I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.

At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of His Majesty's Government-every man of them. That is the will of Parliament and the nation.

The British Empire and the French Republic, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength.

Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail.

We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,

we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,

we shall fight on the beaches,

we shall fight on the landing grounds,

we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,

we shall fight in the hills;

we shall never surrender,

and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving,
then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until,
in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."

And I believe Winston’s famous speech has a message and a mandate for our modern struggle against Socialism, Islamo Fascism, and liberal evil …

We must not allow the disease of liberal decay to infect the body of freedom and American exceptionalism,

We shall fight this culture of death and oppression.

We shall fight this culture of weakness and defeat,

We shall carry this fight to every corner of our modern world.

We shall fight them in our break rooms, board rooms, and our dinner tables,

We shall fight them at our drinking fountains and sports bars,

We shall fight them in our grocery stores and libraries,

We shall fight them on our city councils, zoning boards, school boards and county boards of supervisors,

We shall fight them in our town hall meetings, our precinct caucuses, our primary elections, our district, state and national conventions; our state legislatures, the Halls of Congress and the White House,

We shall fight them at the ballot box and our nominating conventions,

We shall fight them in our church councils,

We shall fight them in our classrooms and courtrooms,

We shall fight them with our Letters to the Editor and our calls to Talk Radio,

We shall fight them every time a telephone pollster interrupts our dinner,

We shall fight them in our Email chat rooms and social network sites,

We shall fight them with our letters, our voices and our texting,

We shall raise our voices in opposition wherever and whenever the misguided Left presumes to lead us like Lemmings over the cliff to our death and the death of all that is good and right in this nation,

We shall take down tyrannical judges who ignore the majority will of the people,

We shall take down any politician of any party at any level who presumes to know what is best for those who elected them, and forgets for whom they work,

We shall fight them wherever and whenever free men and women struggle against the tyranny of oppression and long to be free of despots who would impose the delusion of the immoral minority on the moral majority.
