As we approach the end of time amid a flurry of bloody feathers, fish carcasses, and plentiful crab cakes, Google has, as it always does, given us a means of approaching our imminent demise easily and with style.
A new Google Map created yesterday – “Mass Animal Deaths” – shows areas of the world that have experienced a recent wave of animal deaths, complete with a link to an article explaining each instance, as well as the number of animals found dead in each case. From dead snapper in New Zealand to birds exploding over Arkansas, troubling animal deaths are just a click away.
And, yes: So far, the map indicates that the U.S. is the animal death capital of the world.
Well, no. The map indicates that the US is the animal death reporting capital of the world.
Big difference.
Could this be due to the US having a more open information system than, say, China?

Well, thank goodness we’re number 1 in something!
I would guess there are a lot more of these incidents in isolated places and places with little technology.

Just a wee bit alarmist...no? Birds didn't actually explode in AR...they just dropped from the sky.
I heard folks talking about the disappearance of Rock Fish from VA waters this winter AND the sudden death of millions of juvenile spot in the Chesapeake Bay as two very odd occurances. Actually nothing odd at all except that December was unusually cold. The sudden cold killed off a lot of baby Spot and baby spot are the number one food source for the Rock Fish...who migrated south to the Outer Banks...about a month early...looking for warmer waters and more abundant food. Not exactly end of the world stuff...

So that’s where Mas has been test firing it’s death ray beams,UFO’s to pick up sampels soon.
Weather news is always made into a crisis now by media outlets, to drive traffic to their websites as one small example.
Let me see a the same map with a 5 year spread.
These guys can have all the runaway greenhouse effect going on in the rest of the world, but the ice happens in North America and that's due to intense cold ~ over and over and over.
Eventually the ice builds up in Canada, and slops over into the Corn Belt, and about then the rest of the world starts to die too ~ and it's all over for the next 100,000 years.
Bingo.. the media making a big deal about nothing..

This probably comes under the ‘$-it Happens’ category.
After millions of dollars are ‘wasted’ the final discovery will be the ‘victims’ just got tired of doing the same old thing day after day.
Like the “Hold my beer and watch this”.
All of a sudden the lead bird got tired of flapping his wings and his minions followed suit....
At least this is taking attention away from the “missile” off the California coast.
I just wish it was happening with the Canadian geese that fly over my place. I would love to fill my freezer with them.
