BGR has confirmed with a source close to Apple that the company has blacked out employee vacation requests between February 3rd and February 6th Thursday through Sunday. The four-day vacation freeze has been confirmed to be in effect in several regions in the United States. A recent report suggested the vacation black-out would cover a period of three weeks beginning in late January and extending into February, which still could be true in some regions.
Back in June of last year, Apple picked the dates of 24th to the 27th for its iPhone 4 weekend launch also a Thursday through Sunday. In addition, Verizon Wireless typically launches new devices on Thursdays. While BGR has not yet confirmed that the Verizon iPhone is the device well see debut on the 3rd, the timing lines up very well with previous reports; no other Apple products have been rumored to be launching in this time frame.
I love my Droid (Verizon).
I compared it with my wife’s iTouch and the Droid wins, hands down!
The audio interface ALONE makes the Droid a superior product. Add to that the built-in seamless integration with Chrome and Google navigator and this puppy rocks!
God, my WinPhone was clunky, but I didn’t realize I could leapfrog several generations on one purchase (and the Company is picking up the cost of bott the phone and the plan — voice AND data) WHOO HOO!!!
I’ll believe it when I See it :-)
I hope its true but either way I will have to figure out how much it will cost me monthly to have the plan..right now I pay 38 bucks a month for 450 minutes(Since I am not a hardcore user) and 250 text messages..so its about 38.50 a month..I dont want it to get too expensive per month otherwise it won’t be worth it to me
F Verizon.
I love my Android (Sprint HTC Evo 4G) too... but then I love all gadgets.
Verizon is the only carrier that actually works in my house. ATT, t-Mobile and all the rest peter out.
I’ll take the carrier whose signal works consistently. I also get seamless Verizon reception in Mexico.
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
That’s nice.
eF F’n Verizon!!!
Last summer I drove from the Washington state Canadian Border, through LA, then on to Phoenix. Had excellent AT&T iPhone 4 reception all the way except for about ten minutes in the most desolate AZ desert.
Well, as the man says, YMMMV.
In my area, AT&T couldn’t penetrate a dish of oatmeal.
I’ll believe it when I see it. I’ve seen this rumor wrong so much.
AT&T really sucks in the Dallas area. Choppy all over.
Just for the record, I just said I liked my Droid.
The iPhone/iPad/iTouch is/are/be great, it is just getting a little long in the tooth and I don’t see much in improving the UI.
And, frankly, the whole philosophy of the iPhone’s UI was (and continues to be) the basis for everything else: the Droid, the new Blackberry and, apparently, the new WinPhones (and I TOTALLY gave up on WinPhones — klunkiest UI since the Tandy 2000).
But the first time I hit the little mic key and said “email to (boss’s name), Hey Boss, we need to spend 10 minutes on Wednesday to discuss Item 12 of the Project Plan” and it got it perfect, I was in love.
There are also other little things it just does so nicely, a bit better than the iPhone.
Now we will have these technologies fighting to be the best, so all us consumers win.
But I won’t let them do a brain implant: YET (LOL)
Yeah. That happens too. In Manhattan Beach sat down to dinner looked at the phone and not a single bar. Moved it to the other side of the plate and decent reception.
bump

RE: I love my Droid (Verizon).
I really liked my Droid when I first got it but have become increasingly frustrated and dissatisfied as time has gone on...sometimes wanting to throw it through the wall.
Lags when executing a function, GPS not being able to produce a location, pictures not showing up in the gallery, constant app updates, lousy picture quality indoors, battery cover falling off constantly, lousy audio for phone calls...just to name a few flaws.
When my Verizon “new every two” comes up my Droid will go bye bye and I’ll be switching to the iPhone....if not sooneer.

Plate techtonics... ;)
RE: Verizon is the only carrier that actually works in my house
Same here. Not only my house, but my cabin in north central PA too.
Mine is a Droid Pro — I am not seeing any of that (nor is my friend who got a Droid 2). The GPS snaps into place and finds the satellites in seconds (but I have to admit I need to remember to turn the GPS satellite finder back on — it sleeps to save the battery).
Maybe you have early adopter syndrome?
Speaking of the battery, that is not all that great. It seems to have a short time between needing to be recharged. But I think it might be me not properly managing background apps...
Then ya gotta deal with the devil.
