Call Tegra for infotainment
Nvidias Tegra chips have managed to find their way to a somewhat unlikely customer, California-based car maker Tesla Motors.
Teslas new Model S, the companys first sedan, will feature an infotainment system based on Nvidias SoC. The system will feature a 17-inch touchscreen in the center console and it will incorporate infotainment, navigation. It appears that a secondary 12.3-inch screen will serve as an-all digital instrument cluster and it will deliver vehicle info. The smug will love it.
Nikola Tesla would have probably been proud to see his name on such a geeky car, but we are guessing Jeremy Clarkson will hate it for a number of reasons.
Its also worth noting that Nvidia struck a deal with Audi to use Nvidia GPUs and other chips in Audis next generation MMI system.
but talking on a cellphone is dangerous?
Nvidias Tegra chips
Are those like Doritos?
Why not the kitchen sink? Recognize the fingerprints, turn on the water to that person’s preferred temperature. It can use regular water by default, but switch to filtered water when it recognizes a pitcher or cup. It could even internally divert the stream for a second to ensure only filtered water hits the cup.
one wonders about the impact of all this electric junk on the overall range of the vehicle...
I hope Clarkson rakes the silly thing over the coals.
There is your chance to form a company with a new product.
they also equip the infotainment system on Ford (Sync, SyncII).
They're not far from here.
Normally I write things like that in case some idiot later tries to patent what I think is a pretty obvious mix of current technologies. This way someone can refer to my post as prior art when challenging the patent.
I would rather have a BMW Z4.
Tesla was bailed out with TARP money.
The thing costs over $100K. If you want basically that car you can get what it’s based off of, a Lotus Elise, in sport trim for about half the price. It’s only 220hp, but it only weighs 2,000 pounds, a bit over half as much as a Z4.
Lotus Elise is basically a track car. I prefer something that wont beat the crap out of me on a long drive.
The car manufactures seem to love to continue to add all sorts of things into the cars that distract people from keeping their eyes on the road and avoid killing others.
I hope that when the lead solder melts the car doesn’t careen out of control. ;’)

Her's had a white top and was a 65.
Candy apple red.
She wore it out and didn't want to let go of it.
