SAN FRANCISCO: Nude guys irk some in Castro, but not tourists
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 2/1/11 | C.W. Nevius

Tourists come to San Francisco to see the Golden Gate Bridge, AT&T Park, Fisherman's Wharf - and the naked guys in the Castro.

This Sunday, a guy was standing on Market Street wearing a multi-colored hat, shoes and a glitter-covered sock over Mr. Happy. The glitter was a nice touch. Did he think no one would notice?

"Personally I am not offended by naked bodies," said Dennis Ziebell, owner of Orphan Andy's Restaurant, which overlooks the 17th Street and Market plaza where the exhibitionists gather. "But my customers don't particularly want to look at the window and see that."

Not so with visitors.

"Unfortunately, most of the tourists are taking photos with them," said Mission Station police Capt. Greg Corrales.

And that's why San Francisco is the "Special" city.

On the other hand someone praying in the Castro District would cause a riot by the inmates... er, uh, locals.

This is mild compared to the nasty crap that goes on there in the streets. Deviants are above the law. The media normally doesn’t even report stuff like this it happens so regularly.

Yes! I lived near the Castro district for two years. I remember some really disgusting behavior from that time. A dildo in the shape of a cross comes to mind.

So the restaurant owner is not offended, because he’s liberal and tolerant and all that. He’s just concerned for his customers not wanting to see certain things.

Okay..............

Well, I guess if you own a business in The Castro, you by definition will be liberal. The guy is probably gay himself. Heck maybe he realizes if they offend the sensibilities of tourists, they won’t go there anymore.

A dildo shaped like a cross? Well, that qualifies for an arts grant from the government, doesn’t it? It can be displayed next to the crucifix in urine and the Virgin Mary covered in dung.

I imagine people would want to tour San Francisco in exactly the same way they would want to tour Thailand.

Sick freaks.

I think the one thing that irritates me the most is the media silence on the bad behavior going on not just in places like this but in pride parades etc. Homosexuals and deviants are held to a lower standard.

An amusing observation by my uncle, a cab driver in Sodom and Gomorrah by the Bay.

The Police will drive right past a teenage boy male prostitute to arrest a female prostitute.

The Police don't want to deal with a male homosexual prostitute and his hard luck story, or really have anything to do with the situation.

A female prostitute they will arrest, read the riot act to, act like a stern uncle, etc, etc.

I think Nevius isn't quit right by implying that tourists like exhibitionists.

Its like saying tourists 'like' people with elephantitis, or motorists 'like' car accidents.

One of these days, I have a feeling that God is going to take care of the situation Himself. He’s done it before.
