Country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus blames Disney's "Hannah Montana" for his daughter Miley Cyrus' issues, angrily saying "the damn show destroyed my family," the New York Post reported Tuesday.
Blaming publicists and Miley's handlers, Cyrus gives an anguished interview in GQ's March issue, where he adds he wishes "Hannah Montana" never happened.
"I hate to say it, but yes, I do. I'd take it back in a second," said Cyrus, who is divorcing Miley's mother, Tish.
Reflecting on Miley's controversial moments -- including seductive photos on the internet, pole-dancing at the Teen Choice Awards, and posing for Vanity Fair draped in a sheet -- Cyrus said he should have been stricter, and accuses her handlers of going too far to promote her, and then using him as the fall guy.
He tells GQ: "Every time the train went off the track ... her people, or as they say in today's news, her handlers, every time they'd put [the blame on] me ... I took it because I'm her daddy ... OK, nail me to the cross.

Well, then he’s made a big switch. He used to brag about being a Dhimmi.
Thank you for a kind reply. Why doesn’t someone buy the Disney catalog of the 60’s and earlier? I would have watched and allowed my children(now grandchildren) to watch and enjoyed for hours. Mickey Mouse Club, Spin and Marty etc. I remember the Disney specials near Christmas, where they actually showed Christians with a humble faith. Chip and Dale and all the old cartoons. I miss them myself, and whenever something old by Walt Disney comes on, I DVR it. Blackbeards Ghost, The Love Bug, and Haley Mills movies. How I miss the past, and try try try, to look to the future with hope. I know one thing for sure, and that is “Come quickly Lord”, your servants are in travail.
He should’ve put his foot down a long time ago,and now that she’s 18,the handlers are telling him it’s “none of his business” what she does. That’s true. He dropped the ball, and as far as i’m concerned, his wife is just as much to blame as he is. It takes two parents to raise (or screw up) a child.
You sound like a wonderful family. I know you love them deeply for that is the post of a proud and loving mother.
I am proud to say my sons are just like you described yours.
Their dad went to Heaven and left me a alone after 48 years and they are what ever mother would want sons to be.
God bless you and your family.
I refused to let my beautiful daughter take part in acting, modeling, dancing, beauty pageants, or anything remotely like that. It is absolutely not worth it to let your precious children be chewed up by the filthy entertainment industry. She concentrated on sports, math and science, and charity work, and now appears headed for much greater things than the evil world of show business.
Some of us have a little bit longer memory than billy.
Check out this very disturbing image from a father/daughter photo shoot. Looks like daddy wasn’t too worried about what his daughter was being exposed to. Guess that was then, huh? Notice how FReeper comments from then are right on the nail.

Really, a lovely statement on morals and values of Disney charactor building productions in the old days.
Walt Disney, I believe, would be deeply hurt to see what is being done to children by way of films, tv and Hollywood celebrity, and under his name he would be enraged. Glad he is not here to see it, actually. Maybe the old stuff can be ordered online, though it is hard to enrich the current Studio by buying the old stuff.
Think of the childeren steeped in this stuff who have no one to pray for them. We must include them in our prayers as we pray for our own. Prayers make a difference.
So, Billy Ray Joe Bob Jefferson Lee Cyrus, dont blame the the handlers of a minor.
Miley Cyrus turned 18 last November.
You mean about 3 months ago. The point all the decisions were made up until 3 months ago by her parents...or should have be made by her parents, NOT HANDLERS.
My daughter is currently 13 years old and enjoyed watching the show and listening to Miley Cyrus. (after Justin Bieber his the Disney airwaves, she quickly changed to country). The way my daughter put it last year was that she just liked Miley as a performer and, “I don’t see her as a role model.”
You have a very smart daughter, and I would guess you are smarter parents. When growing up, I cannot recall ever having a crush on a fictitious human. Psychiatrists and most of society say it is a normal thing, I would disagree. A crush on a teacher, relative or a beloved friend I can see. A worship of something that is truly an “IDOL” no.
