TOPEKA — A handful of Tea Party activists from various states gathered on the steps of the Kansas Statehouse this afternoon to announce Freedom Fest 2011 — an event billed as the National Tea Party's candidate nominating convention, slated for Oct. 5-9 in Kansas City, Kan.
Organizers said the convention would be like "a Tea Party Woodstock." But without all the "hippies, drugs and trash."
The activists were greeted by Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and State Rep. TerriLois Gregory, R-Baldwin City.

I’m confused...how does this time jibe with the Republican process? Are they nominating their own candidate, as in third party?

This same weekend is a Nascar race weekend at the Kansas Speedway. Lodging will probably be difficult, if not impossible, to find. Anyone planning to attend might want to book rooms now, even though the exact location hasn’t been decided.

No! Its more like a “beta test”, these TEA party groups will get together and go through the Process of seeing who they would nominate -
A good step to keep up the pressure—The Tea Parties will not go away and will make their wishes known to the GOP. This is a needed step to make the movement a real power. If things don’t go right—its 3rd Party time—but—its too soon for that sort of talk. Let us show the Republicans who we are! They need us! We are no longer fringe—we are mainstream. We are the future! We are the new America—the rebirth of the old ways and values—Death to PC! End all Green nonsense! Stop the Multicultural Foolishness—we are Americans all. Close the borders! Drill for oil, Rebuild factories! The best welfare is WORK!
