If it was a tempest in a teapot, Jobs wouldn’t have apologized. Period.

And not a single iPhone user I know has a case.

What you fail to get is I’m not stuck with anything. I *chose* a droid over an iPhone. Inferior. Snort. Once again the cult view that anything without an Apple sticker is inferior.

Hope you’re holding your phone the right way!

The ‘hate’ is a two way street. The elitist attitude by some here is pretty obvious. Personally, I like Apple products and always have. But the cultish replies here regarding those who pick something other than an Apple is ridiculous. If Apple is truly superior, it will play out in the market. But to act like the company and products are flawless is absurd. Being a brand advocate means learning from mistakes and improving- NOT blindly drinking koolaid. Why do you think Apple apologized for their stupid response to the iP4 problem?

Yes. Even Apple makes mistakes. But some here will never accept that.

“If it was a tempest in a teapot, Jobs wouldn’t have apologized. Period.”

It got play in the media, what choice did he have again?

“And not a single iPhone user I know has a case.”

Wow...how in the world do they make calls with that “defective” antenna I wonder? LOL

“What you fail to get is I’m not stuck with anything. I *chose* a droid over an iPhone. Inferior. Snort. Once again the cult view that anything without an Apple sticker is inferior.”

Not at all, the inferiority is quantifiable and objective!

The iPhone 4 has:

1) The best phone screen in the industry.
2) The best camera available in a smartphone.
3) The best battery life.
4) By FAR the best selection of apps.
5) By all accounts the best user experience.

Don’t forget that aside from the antenna claim, Consumer Reports rated the iPhone 4 as far and away the best smartphone.

Good luck with all the Android malware and hardware fragementation, as well! =;-)

One last point. Apple devices don’t have “stickers”. They’re tacky. heh

“Hope you’re holding your phone the right way!”

Not a problem, I have a case...remember? ;-)

Not only do the calls work flawlessly, but if I do happen to drop it, it’s protected. It baffles me that anyone wouldn’t take such a simple, inexpensive precaution. My case is quite thin, weighs almost nothing, and looks great.

It was a tempest in a teapot because Apple and people who were testing the iPhone 4 could not duplicate the issue to any thing like the degree that the FUD spreaders were screaming about. The complaint level about ALL issues on the iPhone4 was below 2%... compared to almost 6% for all other cellular phones, rintense. That is phenomenal!

The "Don't hold it that way" comment came from a single response early on from Steve Jobs to an email from one of the early FUD spreaders trying to gin up publicity about the "problem."

The fact is that when tested by independent labs, it was found that EVEN HOLDING IT THAT WAY, the iPhone4 did not attenuate enough to drop calls more than other smartphones in it its class when held covering their antennas... and still received calls better than the others.

When the iPhone4 was released with unmodified antennas into the rest of the world, away from AT&T's crummy US network, the dropped call issues went away... and the users in the rest of the world had no problems. They could not duplicate any of the problems. The problems were purely an artifact of an overloaded network.

Stickers? What ARE you talking about?

So, I see, the media hates Apple too, as well as the consumers who bought the product and complained. It's a conspiracy!!!!

Best selection of aps... yeah, as long as they're dictated by Apple.

5 reasns why the Droid X beats iP4

As stated earlier, for every 'fact' you find, I can find one too.

Strange, there are only 4... and two of them are wrong. The antenna issue I've already debunked... and tethering with an iPhone works fine everywhere except on AT&T which made a business decision to not allow it until this year. . . including for their Android phones.

That leaves the Big screen... and the "walled garden," managed, controlled approach to apps... which many people consider a important plus for the iPhone, considering the recent spate of MALWARE apps just discovered on the Android Market.

"Stickers? What ARE you talking about?"

This quote of yours:

"Once again the cult view that anything without an Apple sticker is inferior." (my emphasis)

"Best selection of aps... yeah, as long as they're dictated by Apple. How long before the gay mafia gets the Catholic Confession ap banned?"

Wow...you are all over the place. How 'bout...never?

Anyhow, more on this below.

As Sword pointed out, your "reasns" don't hold water. Even the bigger screen is specious, since the iPhone's screen resolution is superior. I use reading glasses for a mild magnification and that works out great. =:-D

Plus, of course, I have a lighter and more compact phone to carry around.

Second, it is completely legal to unlock the iPhone and experience the wild and wooly unrestricted app experience of Android. The iPhone once again offers more.

I will accept your complete and unconditional surrender at this point. ;-)

No surrender. I’m enjoying my rooted, wifi tethered Droid X with custom ROM just fine. :)

I’m thinking about getting an iPAD. I want to be able to hook up to the wireless on my boat, surf the web, use e-mail, watch movies and output HDMI to a LCD screen. An iPAD (first generation) with 32 GIG is $499. With 64 GIG it is $599. iPad 2s are $100 additional. Do I need 64 GIG? And is iPAD2 worth the extra $100/$200?

I’m not Swordmaker, but I’ll take a swing at this.

If I were you, I’d go for a 32 GB iPad 2. If you don’t know whether you need 64, I’m pretty sure you don’t. Unless you store a lot of media (music, movies) on the iPhone at once you’ll be fine. You can always swap it back and forth using iTunes. I’ve had a 32 GB iPhone for some time, and still have 20 GB available, for whatever that’s worth.

The reason I recommend the iPad 2 is there’s a lot of value there. Much faster processor and graphics, double the RAM, two cameras, and HDMI out (no HDMI out on the original iPad, so if you want it you have to go iPad 2).

Plus you’re future-proof for an extra year any way you look at it. ;-)

I hope it helped!

Two considerations. First if HDMI is a major requirement, the iPad1 will not do HDMI of all content to the big screen but the iPad2 will. However, the iPad1 and 2 will both do HD content direct to AppleTV (a $99 WIFI device with a lot more functionality for your TV) without HDMI. The iPad2 will send anything you can see on its screen out through HDMI to the big screen TV with an adaptor (which has simultaneous charging, a big plus). The AppleTV device can access Netflix ($7.99 a month) and get unlimited streaming HD movies and TV episodes from older series such as Heroes, Lost, etc.) Both iPads can also receive and display this Netflix content from your account.

Secondly, while I have not filled up my 64GB first generation iPad, I will probably go ahead and buy a 64GB iPad 2 because of future possibilities...

eBay pricing on a used iPad1 64G WIFI 3G is $550 right now. I am selling mine to finance the purchase of the iPad2.
