“I just turn it around and try to sell them my services the just looks confused and leave”
It also works with Mormons, and JW’s when they come to the door, too. I won’t tell you how I know this.
How are you going to be able to feel the quality of this knife set by watching it on TV. I mean, you can watch a guy chop through a can only so many times before becoming jaded. Here, let's go inside your kitchen with my knife set and I'll let you try them out.....
I asked him point blank if he is going to give me the product, when he said yes then there was a struggle-less putting it in my hand then I shut the door. Call it take or give , i don't know. He got it back though.
In this economy, people may be forced to take jobs that they would otherwise never consider. Door-to-door sales has to be the hardest, most rejection-filled job there is.
I suppose instead of at least trying to support himself, he could be at home sucking off of the government teat.
At least give him the respect of making the effort for feed himself.
I take that back, we've had some legit guys from AT&T, Verizon and Comcast selling telecoms services, but they show IDs and are obviously not crooks. Magazine salesmen are all rotten, however. I've seen vans dropping off small groups of thuggish looking guys who fan out through the neighborhood. I'm glad a policeman lives next door; they usually leave me alone.
If it’s a sin to treat door-to-door salesmen poorly, I’ve got at least one foot in Hades.
I had a visit by an honest-to-god Fuller Brush salesman a couple of years ago. I was so overwhelmed by nostalgia that my wife had to order me not to buy anything.
Why did you even bother to answer the door?
What was the product?
I would have just told the guy to get lost and shut the door.
I recently got out my scanner. It had been sitting in storage for over ten years. I looked up a bunch of frequencies and put in around 90.
I have not been listening long enough to know which agency is responding but noticed quite a few people reporting door to door salesmen so it must be illegal in some areas.
I wouldn’t have opened the door again after he rang the doorbell.
Well, whenever a telemarketer calls me, I try to be polite and tell him I’m just not interested and thank you anyway, goodbye. As someone else mentioned, he’s probably pretty desperate to take a job like that. I don’t know, I feel kinda sorry for the man. Your story makes me sad.
My concern for you (was your daughters concern).
As you could see your son’s reaction was quite different than your girls which is typical. You need to remind the girls, DO NOT open the door to anyone and do not worry
about being rude to a stranger at your door.
When a salesdroid/preacherman/city official bangs on the door, I open the door, point up at the nest and never say a word. Works every time.

The dude wasn't honest with you. To hell with him.
I had some salesman knock on my door yesterday and he wouldn't answer when I asked "who is it?" three separate times. I finally looked out my side window and told the sonofabitch to take a hike.
I definitely DO NOT appreciate that little tactic to try to get me to open the door.
