Family Guy Writer Tweets Pearl Harbor Joke In Response To Japanese Earthquake
Bleeding Cool: Entertainment News ^ | March 12, 2011 – 7:54 am | Brendon Connelly

when a particularly tasteless tweet started rolling around the web last night, and I found out it had been written by Family Guy scriptwriter Alec Sulkin, I wasn’t too surprised. Here’s what he said: "If you wanna feel better about this earthquake in Japan, google 'Pearl Harbor death toll'”.

This world view, that the citizens of a nation are somehow statistics to be tallied in a historical spreadsheet of deaths, and that there’s somehow a desirable, karmic distribution to be had is absolutely disgusting.

Typical nasty garbage from a liberal and typical TV industry scum on Obama TV. Japan has been devastated and innocent people are dying including children. There is nothing funny about it. Japan is a good ally as well. Just another reason why I do not watch Obama TV and never will again. F TV.

I’d be willing to bet this disaster will easily outclipse the death toll of Pearl Harbor

I’m sure if this earthquake happened in Iran, celebrities would be holding telethons and there’d be another rendition of “We Are The World.”

The AGW crowd in Europe have already claimed this earthquake as support for their own agenda, in defiance of both morality and science.

This Pearl Harbor ‘joke’ is only the second most offensive thing today.

As a Conservative, my first thought was compassion.

As a Leftist, this guy’s first thought was getting even.

How do you get even with innocent men, women, and children?

I guess we shouldn’t be shocked. It’s this guy and his fellow travelers that want to get even with our forefathers, at our expense, and at ANY cost.

I have always found “Family Guy” extremely offensive.

Never could stand to watch more than a couple of minutes of it.

I hope this writer loses his job and “Family Guy” quickly passes into the history books as one of the worst cartoons ever.

This guy needs to die in a fire.

WWII Was in ‘another world’ at ‘another time’.

So, the scriptwriter thinks that the deaths of Japanese who were born after WWII is some kind of “repayment for Pearl Harbor”? I take it that he forgot about the whole Pacific Theatre of WWII in which “repayment” was made quite handily. It is no wonder that I am not a viewer of Family Guy. I have seen bits of it and the programme is a mess (unfunny stream of consciousness twaddle).

Has the New York Times found a way to blame Palin for this yet?

I dare say that you are correct. Matt Damon would make a special appeal (after he was taught to read the cue cards).

This is why I’ve always said that Family Guy is about as funny as a bag of dead kittens.

The Japanese paid their debts for Pearl Harbor and the rape of Nanking in full with Hiroshima a Nagasaki.

The people who just died (and some who are no doubt in the process of dying - trapped somewhere in debris) had nothing to do with the attack 70 years ago.

What an ugly American.

Last I read there were four trains missing. I suspect you're correct.

Considering Family Guy's had jokes about eating a paralyzed guy's legs and newborn babies being thrown into dumpsters, it's pretty much par for the course.

Well, the editorial board of the New York Times, piss be upon them, are trying to determine how they can blame Reagan, GW Bush, and Palin in one stroke.

To be honest, I was thinking of comparisons to 9-11, principally of so many lives swept away in an instant and their family members perhaps wandering for days carrying photos of people who will never be found - whose remains might never be found - as if they just vanished from the earth.

Not funny, I know. But that’s the comparison that came to mind.

Not only that- but this morning in the president’s Saturday morning radio talk he apparently never mentioned Japan. This is per a FOX banner headline.

Alliances seem to be clarifying around the world, eh?
