St. Patrick's Day surprise: Study finds relatives who share Obama's Irish ancestry; some kin unhappy
NYDailyNews ^ | March 17, 2011 | Philip Caulfield

A new study claims that President Obama has 28 living relatives who share his Irish ancestry, but some of the newly discovered kin aren't eager to share a pint with him.

In the study, released to The Associated Press by family history website Ancestry.com, genealogists traced the descendants of about two dozen passengers who came to America from Ireland on the ship Marmion in March 1850.

Stoughton celebrates Syttende Mai (17th of May), presumably a Norwegian holiday. canoe races, a fund raising run from Madison to Stoughton, etc. Visitors from Norway have said it’s no big holiday in Norway, though.

From the article: "Though he's more commonly associated with his African roots - Obama's father is from Kenya..."

Which means his father was not a U.S. citizen, which means that the jug-eared bastard is not a natural born citizen, which means...well, you know.

Sorry to go "off subject" but as a "birther" I feel the information freely admitted in this article needs to be repeated.

Actually, the _Vikings_ gave the Irish their [now] “classic red hair”.

Until the invasions and “integrations”, *most* Irish resembled their round-headed, dark haired Celtic ancestors.

That how the “red head” superstitions got started.

A red-haired child was a reminder that somewhere in its past, there was a Viking sack and pillage event in the woodpile.

Until modern times where it became a “fashionable cliche’”, it was was actually a mark of historical shame.

it just amazes me how many think because they had an Irish wolfhound in the family a hundred years ago they now are Irish.
sarc

I’ve just talked to 3 Irish lads, real ones over in Ireland and all of them said they think Americans who pretend their Irish is a joke and it goes way over the top plus they forget this is a religious holiday for many real Irish.

Even worse in America is that some teachers tell the kids there are Leprechauns and then tell them to wear green and set out traps to catch Leprechauns but of course Christmas cannot be mentioned.

Last year we had a bunch of folks from NY staying down here, all of them wearing green, asking the waitress for green beer, one dressed as a Leprechaun WTH
When the restaurant ran out of green dye the group from NY refused to drink anything until the restaurant got more green dye.

Redheads in Ireland are a distinct minority. Take one hundred people from Ireland and ninety-two will have brown or black hair, six will be blondes, and two will have red hair.

I remember a Danish girl I was dating years ago telling me the very same

It just amazes me how kids are fed crap about this day and to believe in something which is not true but they cannot mention Christmas.

Now why should my kids be forced to celebrate a holiday which is not theirs.?

Tonight will be like New Years’s eve, amateur night with many fools about.

Thank you.

-All- of the Irish in my family are dark haired and gray-blue or brown eyed.

My auburn hair and green eyes came from the Welsh side.

I would imagine that my mother’s Danish genes “flipped a switch” and caused recessive genes to appear in me even though my sister is a brunette with gray-blue eyes.

“Tonight will be like New Years’s eve, amateur night with many fools about.”

LOL!

A very dear Irish-blood friend cautioned me with those almost identical words this past New Year’s Eve!

Look on the bright side.

The Irish and the Hillbillies are the last people on earth anyone can safely stereotype or mock without fear of “racism” litigations following behind.

[and that’s only because you ~can’t~ insult somebody who is truly -proud- of what they are]....;]

If it’s any consolation, even the drunk atheists are inadvertently celebrating a Christian holiday.

We celebrate St. Pat’s day to commemorate him “driving out” the “old gods” in favor of the One God.

Bet they don’t know that, either.

[I’ve “celebrated” it only *once*...but if somebody offered you bottles of vintage Dom Perignon, colored green, would *you* say no?]....LOL

Thank you. I reminded my daughter that it is a religious Holiday to celebrate St. Patrick who brought the word of God to the Irish people and used the clover to represent three leaves in one...just like the Holy Trinity.

ANOTHER IRISHMAN (In Old Chicago Town)
Tune: “The Wearing of the Green”

By Fritz Baue and Charlie Henrickson

Oh, Paddy dear, and did you hear
The news that’s goin’ round?
They found another Irishman
In old Chicago town!

O’Bama’s just as Irish
As Daley and O’Hare
He’s one of them “Black Irish”
As come from County Clare

The leprechauns all love him
Or so I have been told
He’s bailin’ out the country
With their lovely crock of gold

We eat corned beef and cabbage
When we’re in County Cork
But at O’Bama’s White House
They’re only servin’ pork

He’s like an Irish tenor
A-singin’ “Danny Boy”
The hope and change he’s singin’
Bring Oprah tears of joy

Let’s lift a glass of Guinness
And Irish whiskey too . . .
Hawaiian-Kenyan-Irish
Is quite a pot of stew!

Oh, Paddy dear, and did you hear
The news that’s goin’ round?
They found another Irishman
In old Chicago town!
