Garth Brooks on Obama: I Love Him to Death; It's Got to Be Hell In That Office

Grammy award-winning singer Garth Brooks told CNSNews.com that he "fully" supports President Barack Obama and that it must be "hell" serving as President of the United States.

Before his performance at the Points of Light Institute's ceremony honoring former President George H. W. Bush at the Kennedy Center on Monday, Brooks was asked if President Obama has lived up to his expectations.

"Yeah, I think what President Obama is finding out is all that we want to do, the system kind of doesn't allow the most powerful guy in the world to kind of do his job and I'm sure nobody's more frustrated than him to complete those promises that he did and I think he's trying his heart out. I love him to death and I fully support him and I just wish him well because it's got to be hell in that office," said Brooks.

Brooks' comments come as many celebrities who supported President Obama in the 2008 election including Matt Damon and Barbra Streisand have publicly expressed disappointment in President Obama.

Nashville has become full of lefties!! I helped produce a music conference there 2 years ago and I was totally amazed at just how liberal Nashville has become!

“Brooks was asked if President Obama has lived up to his expectations”

He has certainly lived up to mine.

You guys must have missed that phase he went through when he started wearing makeup and black nail polish. He called himself Chris Gaines.

I don’t know much about Garth Brooks. Is he gay?

No, but I blieve his sister is. She inspired his "We will all be free" song a few years ago.

Me on Garth Brooks: Shut up and sing.

I don't know how so many Freepers didn't have this guys number. When he screamed that he was entitled to a chunk of USED CD sales in the 90's, that was more than enough. How many times has he retired from music? I wish one would stick.

I'm with you on the fake humility he throws around. He has always struck me as fake and paint by the numbers in his music and performances.

I've listened to Kenny Chesney jam live more than once. He covers that niche of country music much better than Garth.

Shakespeare himself couldn't have said it better.

If there was a Dunce Olympics, Brooks would be the gold medal winner in all events.

That’s sad to here...most right wing artists and entertainers stay in the closet except for country music and athletes

I’m sorry, I just don’t really see the parallel. What happened with the Chicks was that they made an incredibly lame comment overseas, followed it up by wearing a shirt that said “FUTK” to an awards show, lied about the obvious vulgarity, then blamed those who didn’t approve of their antics. Garth merely expressed an opinion that we don’t agree with. It isn’t like he’s one of the snobbish celebrities that think that everyone that doesn’t agree with their narrow world view is stupid.

I recently heard that Toby changed his registration to Independent. He was a big backer of our last governor, the dorky dem Brad Henry, who was pretty moderate. Toby has done a lot for the troops. Several years ago, one former POW of Iraq came home to Kansas after being released. He had been known for taunting his captors by singing “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue” to them. At the soldier’s homecoming celebration, the crowd prodded him to sing the song. Then, out of the middle of the crowd comes Toby with his guitar to go up on stage to sing with him. That was pretty cool, so Toby gets a pass from me.

Toby Keith, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Emmy Lou Harris, and Pam Tillis are all admitted democrats. How liberal they actually are, I don’t know.
