Squirrel rescued from toilet by Goose

British businessman Duncan Goose has told of his surprise at finding a squirrel peering up at him from his toilet.

Mr Goose, 42, was in Malawi to check on aid projects backed by his company's One projects when he rescued the forlorn animal.

He was preparing for bed in his hotel room when he discovered the struggling squirrel.

He said: 'I was concerned it was going to jump out and bite me, so I put the lid back down and left it for a minute as I wasn't sure what to do.'

When he returned shortly after to take a second look he realised it was a squirrel and set about rescuing the poor critter.

His method was putting a hand towel down the toilet which allowed the squirrel to climb up.

Once out he placed it in a laundry basket, took it outside and released it.

Very late in my life, not too long ago, I heard, for the first time, the term “tree rats” applied to squirrels by someone. The term has some truth to it and it surprised me that I had never heard it before, because it sort of makes sense.

He should have flushed. They are nothing but a glorified Rat. And when they get into your home then they can do unspeakable damage. They chew everything. Wires, wood, insulation. I used to think they were cute, but not anymore. Not after having to deal with the damage they do. They are also extremely Bold. If you chase them away then they are back in an hour.

Smart squirrel hiding in wait for some low hanging nuts?

OK, that won't be topped for some time.
