Jon Stewart Loses (Repeatedly) to David Barton - A Must See!
The Daily Show w/Jon Stewart ^ | 05/04/2011

Posted on 05/05/2011 11:58:26 PM PDT by llandres

The best interview smack-down of Jon Stewart ever - Constitutional scholar/historian/evangelist David Barton (frequent Glenn Back guest and 8/28 participant) disproves all of Stewart's research and efforts to erase religion from our founding history.

This is a 3-part extended interview. If it's not still featured in the main screen, there should be a link on that page to view it (5/4/2011)

A great watch!!!

As usual, the Leftists are shut down with facts. Jon Liebowitz may be considered an intellectual at an Upper East Side cocktail party, but in the real world he is a dumb a$$.

Under Full Episodes, at 11:28 into it, Stewart’s introduction of David Barton and first few minutes not in the 3-part Extended Interview.

That’s not what I saw. Stewart had no problem with Barton’s comebacks.

For some reason, the first 9 minutes are only on the Full Episode, then it continues in the separate 3-part extended interview. Good to watch because it sets the stage and has important background/credentials on Barton and his consultation work with the public school system on curriculum and textbooks.

BUT - It was a smack-down because (JS even commented on it late in the 3-part) every blue “research” card he quotes from is disproven by Barton - every single one. If you’ve watched JS much, virtually every guest he has on with whom he disagrees (conservatives), he manages several “gotcha” moments accompanied by laughter and applause from his liberal audience. This is virtually the ONLY one I’ve ever seen (that’s as long as this interview) where that didn’t happen - try though he did.

Hesh is a stooge. Barton worked the speed bag, never let him up. Well played.

I wasn’t that impressed either. Why anyone would go on with that simian-like Stewart is beyond me. He is sooooooooo unfunny.

I thought this was hilarious. I’ve never watched the Daily Show before and had no idea this guy is so funny.

Couldn’t get past the canned laughter— or were the backgrounders all given Nitrous Oxide —or a pot induced Haze prior to the program. I didn’t hear him say anything at all worth laughing at—but then I’m not under the influence.

“I didn’t hear him say anything at all worth laughing at—but then I’m not under the influence.”

That’s the point - Stewart almost ALWAYS gets laughs at the expense of his guests - usually lots more, and louder, than on that particular show. He couldn’t trip Barton up on one thing. The show is done before a live audience (pretty sure) and while there was some faint, short laughter a few times, nothing like usual which is frequently accompanied by applause.

No, Stewart bombed out this time. Guess you’d have to watch some of his other shows to see the contrast. I only tune in when I see he’s having a guest on I want to see (or go to the website to watch that specific interview without the rest of the yuppy liberal garbage). He’s considered quite the wit and intellect by the Left, but I find it humorous that he still credits Dennis Miller (a conservative) as being the smartest comedian by far.

“That’s not what I saw. Stewart had no problem with Barton’s comebacks.”

Also watch the first 9 or so minutes in the Full Episode section. But yes, he did have a problem, he even mockingly complained about his flawed staff “research” cards toward the end. He tried several times to catch Barton contradicting himself when he read various quotes and written phrases of DB, but Barton clarified it every time (essentially correcting him) and took the wind out of Stewart’s attempted gotchas.

I would return to the video and watch what you are describing but I cannot stand Jon Stewart, even though I might side with him in this interview. Stewart and Colbert are pathetic.
