I like an occasional Diet Dr Pepper. Does that make me a fat hillybilly? Or, should I say that I am a voluptuous gal of Southern descent?
Ok fine, but what about us Dr. Pepper people, where do we fit on the spectrum?
Might be true for fountain drinks, since their are so many variables with mixing syrup and making carbonated water at the dispenser, but any Coke or Pepsi lover can instantly tell the difference in a blind test when using bottled product.
Well, when called for I’m a Coke drinker, I hate Pepsi, although I’m not much of a soft drink drinker anyway. But I sound more like I fit the demographics of a Pepsi drinker!
Coke has more bite; Pepsi is too sweet.
I prefer coke. It has a sweeter, more “vanilla” taste as opposed to Pepsi, which tastes lighter to me, more “citrusy”.
That said, the answer to this may be simple marketing strategies on the part of the companies. For instance, the area of the country and newspapers advertised in.
Pepsi tastes like Coke that was opened two days ago.
Cola drinks always have been something I couldn’t see drinking. Nesbitts Orange, Hires Root Beer, and 7up were king. I can still recall the actual smell of the lemon and lime flavorings as you popped the bottle of a 7up. I used to buy them from the gas station, pulled from the ice cold water for a dime.
Pffffffffffft. I’m a Coke drinker and I’ve never been on time anywhere in my life, except to work...and that was due to crosstown traffic rather than loyalty, lol
For me, it’s not about branding, it’s about taste. Pepsi tastes like it’s got dirt in it, ugh!
“Perhaps one cola seems sweeter, but you couldn’t certainly distinguish them in a taste test.”
Can and have. My college boy friend’s room mate made a bet I couldn’t tell crap scotch from Chivas Regal. He lost. Of course now I consider Chivas crap. LOL.
So the coke drinker wrote an insipid article to compensate for being a smug little jerk among other dysfunctions. Banal attempts to feel superior are so sad.
1. Any individual who cannot taste the difference between Coke and Pepsi should be sentenced to be fed via suppository for the rest of their natural life.
2. Any individual who can’t feel the difference between cane sugar and corn syrup should be sentenced to be fed via suppository for the rest of their natural life.
3. When I was a kid, my favorite part of trips to Dixie was Mr. Pibb.
4. Dr. Pepper. Coke occasionally. Coke has a broader flavor, Pepsi is like needles.
Alana Horowitz is obviously a Coke drinker. Probably a Coke snorter as well, as she must have done right before writing this snobby screed.
Hear that you guys who drink Coke? You read the NY Slimes, and Alana Horowitz has the proof!
“but you couldn’t certainly distinguish them in a taste test.”
BS.
I can tell the difference every time.
Easy.
Hey, what do they have to say about Mountain Dew addicts???
What if you think they both taste like crap?
I buy whatever is on sale.
I say total BS. Probably the biggest factor in what you like is what you could most likely drink as a kid. Around where I live, Pepsi, is the most previlant brand so it’s not surprising that people around here prefer Pepsi over Coke.
I prefer Pepsi over Coke, but Mt. Dew over all others. That being said, I’ll drink Coke or Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb or Root Beer if Mt. Dew isn’t available. Mellow Yellow, to me, doesn’t cut it. Also, I don’t like the clear sodas like Sprite or 7up, but then I think that is due to the fact that I got those when I was sick.
I thought the list in the article was just being snobbish. The one thing which stood out to me was the one about not having taken a vacation in 6 months. I feel fortunate to take one vacation a year. There have been many years where I did what is called a staycation...I stayed around home and got caught up on sleep and house chores.
