Former White House lawyer, David B. Rivkin, Jr. is having quite a run. On the heels of his national success planning and leading the lawsuit by 26 plaintiff states challenging the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, Rivkin is being honored as one of the best law firm writers in America.
The prestigious 2011 Burton Award for Legal Achievement has been awarded to Rivkin for his Washington Post article, “Why the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Policy is Doomed,” which ran in the Feb. 13, 2010 edition.
The article, written by Rivkin and his Baker Hostetler law colleague Lee A. Casey, explained in detail why Congress could no longer mandate discrimination in the armed forces based on sexual orientation, especially when senior leadership in the military did not see “a significant threat to unit cohesion.”
The award ceremony will be held at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. on June 13, 2011 at Coolidge Auditorium and Great Hall with guest speaker Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

Maybe I should write an article in the Washington Post saying why Homosexuals in the Military will be a failure.

He predicted that a Liberal President and a liberal congress would buckle to pressure from the campaign-donating homosexual lobby? The man’s a freaking genius. Quick, has he written an article for the washington post about night following day? There’s a Pullitzer in that article. Let’s ask him for his thoughts on breathing...good or bad? Will the last person laid off from the washington post please turn off the lights and mail the donation check to the Democrat party.
THat stupid “prediction” with owebama in office is like me predicting the sun will rise tomorrow. “Prestigious” my a$$.
How about even a broken clock is right twice a day.... or that even an idiot can eventually have a prediction come true...after have failed a thousand and one times before....=.=

One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clinton’s “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t pursue” military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.
