As medical oddities go, this incident stands out: A lifelong resident of Oregon went to the dentist for surgery and awakened from sedation speaking in a British, or somewhat-British, accent.
The 56-year-old woman appeared Thursday on NBCs "Today," answering questions in what this MSNBC story describes as an odd mixture of Irish, Scottish and northern British, with perhaps a dash of Australian and South African for good measure.

I had a cousin who went to the proctologist and he came back speaking with a French accent.
When they said foreign accent I thought mexican or french. Maybe it’s just a generic New England accent she has now...

The article says that she's a "lifelong resident of Oregon". Even if she now has a New England accent, that's still an unexplained mystery.
I know of two people who have had foreign accent syndrome. One had a stroke (he completely recovered from the problem), the other has MS (seems to come and go.) But from dental surgery?
Removal of that troublesome tooth that was keeping her from speaking the proper Queen's English.

Yep. So it seems as they swear it’s the TOOTH, the whole TOOTH, and nothing but the TOOTH. :O)
I know a woman that suffered a head injury in a car accident. Sometimes she speaks with a strange mix of a New Yorker and British accent. Sometimes not.
