My intention hasn’t been to take on homeschoolers. My intention was the protection of children and taking on perverts such as these parents are, imo.

Actually I commend good parents who are taking full responsibility for the education and upbringing of their own children. I commend them to try and create some sort of buffer as well between them and the sick world of the left-wing we see today as well.

I am very sympathetic to the complaints of ‘chritianmommaof3’ in regards to the almost unlimited powers of the CPS and the corrupt ways at times that they operate.

Personally I consider ‘public education’ to be ‘welfare state education’ and would like to see a movement to eliminate it in this coutry.

>>Why because I decided I had to leave the discussion and go do something? <<

No, because you likened the homeschooling moms on this thread to *gasp* Libertarians?!?

“I have enjoyed the debate with you so far but now I see the typical mocking tactic of libertarians coming out strong.”

>>Please I have been in plenty of heated internet debates including ones here at FR. Don’t flatter yourself to think that I left because you flamed me or something with a post.<<

On this thread, you used the words ‘I’ and ‘me’ more than our current president and now you want me to personalize this like you do? Think not. Personally I don’t really care why you left. We went on without you. Who knows, maybe you were going on Sean Hannity’s radio show.

Want to bring him up again just so that we are all sure that we noticed to spoke with him?

I find it humorous that you really have no real point to make at all so you just start searching for ways to mock.

Of course you aren’t using the words “I” OR “ME” in your posts.

And then of course you aren’t bringing up homescooling as if you need everyone to notice how great you are for it.

Make a real point on the debate I was having or just make a fool out of yourself, your choice.

And you claim that you dont care why I left but when I came back I see that you needed to make a post aboout why. Which is it then?

Did you stamp your foot when you typed that?

Sorry, when you know nothing about a subject and try to frame that you do, you just look silly.
I don’t have to bring up homescooling “as if you need everyone to notice how great you are for it”. I am great for doing it, I don’t need anyone to tell me one way or the other.

But bless your heart, weren’t you on Hannity?

Well, like I said, we went on without you. Notice how christianhomeschoolmommaof3 wrote to me after you left? I responded to her.

It really had nothing to do with you.

Sorry if you couldn’t understand that their was a point I was making about a conversation that took place nearly ten years ago. I do not listen to Hannity nor call him though I am sure you will try desperately to find some new way to mock me about it considering you are devoid of any real points in this discussion.

Yes and I also saw the post you wrote to me after I left claiming that I hadn’t learned about FR as if I couldn’t handle your silly mocking posts that are devoid any real substance at all.

But I guess you want to ignore that post you wrote to me now and claim that you simply didn’t care and was only continuing to post without me here. Yea right.

““It only worked up to a certain extent. Some girls never played with the trucks, some boys weren’t interested in ballet ... It was a humbling experiment for us because we learned we don’t have the control that we thought we did.”

This is what moonbattiness is really all about: control of every single aspect of life. These “parents” cannot accept that sex is assigned at birth. Much of modern liberalism goes back to the old Gnostic myth that Man has no need for God because Man can become God. Thanks for the very illuminating link.

I owe you an apology.

As I said earlier, I don't get along with most people. I have stayed away from engaging in discussion on internet sites for that reason. Last night I got back in my old internet groove on a storm thread, and when I was pinged to this story today I just went back to my old ways.

I believe that most people will say things to others, well hidden behind a keyboard, that they would not say face to face. Now today I find myself doing exactly that to you, and I do apologize for that.

I will now fall back into internet reading only. I don't play well with others.

Family members sleeping together is not in itself proof of inappropriate sexual relations. Sometimes my brother and I have had to share a bed on family vacations where the only type of hotel room available was one with 2 double beds. Some of these occasions were after my brother had both hit puberty. Would you consider this to be incest even though nothing sexual happened between us? Third World families co-sleep. In nineteenth-century America it was not uncommon for working-class families living in urban tenement buildings to sleep 16 or more to a very small room. Maybe these parents, being liberal hippies, are just trying to emulate them because they are ashamed of being well off?

I understand your concern for these children but child abuse investigations are serious business. That is why accusations of child abuse should be based on objective physical evidence (i.e. extreme thinness with no medical explanation, excessive bruising especially in the facial area, etc.) not just subjective opinion. My parents were vegetarians and raised my brother and me as such. Some family members thought this was wrong, even child abuse, and that we would grow up malnourished. They were wrong. My parents made sure we got enough protein from eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, etc. and we have always been just as healthy as our meat eating peers. Would you have called CPS on them even though we’d have a greater probability of being abused in foster care than in our own home? Where do you draw the line? And once we as a society accept that CPS has a right to investigate parents based on subjective opinion, what’s to stop a liberal government in a liberal-dominated society from investigating parents who homeschool, raise their children with Christian values, or administer the occasional corporal punishment, all of which plenty of liberals consider child abuse? And if we’re going to go on subjective opinion, I don’t think these “parents” sound like child abusers. I just think they’re two **very** misguided souls acting in what **they** think is their child’s best interest.

By the way, I am not a libertarian by any means. I am against the current “anything goes” youth culture with its acceptance of drug use and sexual promiscuity. I believe the only appropriate expression of sexuality is between two consenting human adults within the context of lifelong monogamous marriage. I am pro-death penalty and anti-affirmative action and all that other good stuff. You get the picture. I’m not saying that there aren’t circumstances in which government intervention is necessary; I just don’t think there’s enough evidence of child abuse here to justify an investigation.

Thank You. I do appreciate your post to me here. It is rare that in a heated debate someone decides to apoligize for their passion on the issue. The apology really wasn’t needed but I sincerely admire you for being able to give it. Hopefully you do not just sit back and read only but instead keep up the good fight. If you feel like you need to fine tune your posting style then I am sure you will work it out.

Hopefully we are still FRiends.

After thinking a little I have decided to concede the debate for now to ‘christianmommaof3’ in that I should give some thought and reconsider my position in regards to the initial comments I made calling for an investigation of this family.

I do believe strongly in parental rights, homeschooling, and do share many of the concerns about the dangers of powerful government agencies such as the CPS. Though there is a fine line because I also do believe in the protection of children as well, and the story of this leftist family from Canada freaked me out. It may be though that I have some bias in the way that I view them.

To be honest with myself most of the time that I have seen cases involving the state and children the state have shown themselves to be completely dysfunctional. I have seen some cases where the child should be protected and the state says that they could do nothing and then seen plenty of cases where split parents are using the CPS as a tool to try and damage the other parent.

It is a shame that we live in such tough times due to a corrupt left-wing culture. I commend parents who are doing all they can to take full responsibility for the raising of their children, their education, their values, and their safety. Parents such as this deserve great repsect and deserve full support and not battles such as this from me. The battles presented by today’s culture are tough enough.

So in return I offer my apology to those who are fighting the good fight for their children and say again that I concede the debate and will reconsider my position overall on the topic of parental rights.
