Dear Freeper friends...please...someone who is knowledeable about the '97 Plymouth Breeze-- Where is the oil pressure switch located? Have a Haynes manual, but it does NOT show the location of that sensor and I can't find it. Have the part to try and get the oil light to go off (oil is fine and up to level and circulating). Can't afford shop manual. Thanks in advance.

You need a 1 1/8 “ spec. socket from the parts store (oil pressure sending unit socket, a regular deep well will damage the unit.) Most suppliers ship the unit with oil resistant Teflon tape on the threads. The unit is located on the middle of the block on the firewall side and is difficult but not impossible to reach. Once the electrical connection has been removed, it’s pretty much like replacing a spark plug. Patience and care is required.

OBTW, is a common, re-occuring problem with that line of Chrysler cars. A friend ended up pulling out the lamp in the dash, it happened so often.

Sensors are generally near the pump. Oil pumps a bitch.

Is FR working so fast for you these days that we need to turn it into an auto repair forum?

Sorry for my snarky comment.

For a second there I thought you said a 1976 Plymouth.

I had one (my first love in HS) and can tell you where every screw and bolt is.

But these newfangled fancified things — you got me...

Why not just trade it in for a 2011 Dodge Challenger 392 SRT8?

Cut the wire. It worked on my ‘64 Ford in high school.

No, Free Republic works just like Jim wants it to work. If he were unhappy about my post, I'm sure he would tell me. In the meantime, someone nice gave me an answer which will save me a LOT of trouble. I am grateful and will gladly help someone else and already do in life in my jobs. That is what Christianity and Christ-like living are all about.

Someone answers and says check the oil sending unit (will check that when I get back there and find it) or oil pump. Don't think it's my oil pump because engine running fine and circulating oil.

Also today, fixed the notorious "horn" problem on the Plymouth Breeze model. Loosen the two star screws from behind the steering wheel and the middle push pad portion of the steering wheel will come off. The four screws holding down the two horn metal plates on each side used to have rubber washers under the heads, but they will be rotted away. This causes the horn to blow constantly on the car. Melted out new nylon washers out of some material here at the house and replaced them with those. Beep beep...stop.

Where there is a will, there is a way.
