In his best-laid plans, Richard King was set to leave West Point next year as both a starting cornerback on the Cadet football team and a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
Instead, in a span of a little less than three months, he's been inflicted with likely career-ending injuries, busted to private and thrust into the queue for active duty all, according to a lawsuit filed this week, the consequences of an unexpected encounter with R&B diva Patti LaBelle after King landed in his native Houston for spring break on March 11:

Very bad PR for her.
How’d the guy get demoted and deployed before he finished at West Point? Please don’t tell me it was the result of being hurt and not being able to play football.
I have been watching the video for several days, and going over the cadet code of conduct.
I believe that West Point never watched this video, and that the disciplinary staff had an obligation to do so.
The wrong person was demoted and deployed, but that is a situation that can be rectified.
It explains it in the article. A police report was forwarded to West Point and they thought his behavior was unbecoming.
While the guy was still unconscious, the Houston PD contacted the Academy and told them that one of their cadets was involved in a violent crime. They busted him and expelled him before anyone heard his side of the story.
Real loyalty to one of their own on Army's part. /s
I hope the fallout from publicity forces West Point to look at the video and suspend their decision until further investigation.
I intend that it cost the disciplinary staff (at a minimum) any hope of promotion in the next five years.
How does being a ‘bodyguard’ give someone the right to intimidate, provoke, or put their hands on someone else?
This is then evidence of the further politically correct wussification of our armed forces, thanks to the perfumed princes. Yet another PC fact of life - do not ever be in the presence of the diva.
Patti Labelle’s behavior is classic “don’t you know who I am”.
“... a police report was forwarded to West Point and they thought his behavior was unbecoming”.
I think West Point’s behavior is unbecoming. Who knows what was written in the report and if it was written by the same cop who posed for pictures with the diva? West Point, IMHO, before ending a person’s career... a person in a hospital with staples in his head.. should have taken a wee bit of time and investigated the incident. I think this stinks to high heaven and I hope the ex-cadet sues and wins BIG.
In thug culture, that's the whole point.
Patti should be doing all she can to reverse the decision made by West Point and then give this cadet a monetary settlement.
How is she going to feel if he comes back from deployment in a body-bag or missing his legs?
Not as bad as she is going to feel if freepers and others start putting long posta about this incident in the reviews of all of her repertoir sold on Amazon.
Make it so.
She is singing at the Gay Pride thing here next weekend, so that tells a lot.
The vic is white..the perps black....racial thing going on maybe.
All in all...the guy got the royal crap dumped on him.
Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Ta Ta
Gitchi Gitchi Ya Ya Here
Mocha Choco Latta Ya Ya
Creole Lady Marmelade
He got the shaft in orer for West Point to make an example of him - don’t p!$$ off any “special” person !
It is clear that the officials at West Point show no loyalty down by showing no ability to investigate on behalf of one of their charges, and that their official behavior is not only dereliction of duty and irresponsible command, it was cad-like and thug-like, for like the three paid civilian thugs and like the Dallas PD thugs and celeb suck-ups, they were quite willing to beat down an innocent unmercifully, and then sickeningly kick the man when down and unconscious.
The new military is so PC that their first reaction was to s#!tcan this plebe. “Conduct unbecoming,” as if the current crop of generals hadn’t been engaging in 100X worse conduct as junior officers.
Now their loyalty to their rising generation has gone down the memory hole. Nothing but PC commissars, up to and including homosexualizing the military according to political orders. Disgusting.
Who would want to serve for such “leaders?” If they do this to a plebe, what about a troop in combat?
