Bilderberg mystery: Why do people believe in cabals?
BBC ^ | June 7, 2011 | Unknown

Ordinary people can only guess at the goings-on at the meetings of the secretive Bilderberg Group, which is bringing together the world's financial and political elite this week. Conspiracy theories abound as to what is discussed and who is there. Why, asks Tom de Castella?

The belief in secret cabals running the world is a hardy perennial. And on Thursday perhaps the most controversial clandestine organisation of our times - the Bilderberg Group - is meeting behind closed doors.

In the manner of a James Bond plot, up to 150 leading politicians and business people are to gather in a ski resort in Switzerland for four days of discussion about the future of the world.

Previous attendees of the group, which meets once a year in a five-star hotel, are said to have included Bill Clinton, Prince Charles and Peter Mandelson, as well as dozens of company CEOs.

First meeting in 1954, the aim was to shore up US-European relations and prevent another world war. Now under the group's leadership of former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and one-time EU vice president, Viscount Davignon, the aim is purportedly to allow Western elites to share ideas.

But conspiracy theorists have accused it of everything from deliberately engineering the credit crunch to planning to kill 80% of the world population. Longtime opponent and US radio host Alex Jones, heckled one meeting through a megaphone: "We know you are ruthless. We know you are evil. We respect your dark power."

Part of the reason for alarm is the group's secretive working methods. Names of attendees are not usually released before the conference, meetings are closed to the public and the media, and no press releases are issued.

[ Why do people believe in cabals? ]

I ask the inverse.. Why do some people dis-believe in cabals?
There have been many conspiracy’s in history..

Like communism is based in conspiracy..
Some might say communism “IS” a conspiracy..

If people knew what it was and wasn’t they would never choose communism..

Prove it.

Well, I suppose that the Tyranosaurus Rex community could be accused of being involved in schemes to consolidate and expand their power...but I tend to doubt it.

These theories are important because they give people an excuse for their personal economic failures.

There may be a group that rules the world, and has for decades, or centuries. So what? If true, no one is going to stop them, they are all-powerful and somehow pass the power to new generations of string-pullers. In the meantime, some people do fine economically and others don’t.

I never worry about such things. If such a group exists, upholding the status quo would logically be their aim, since they are the ones that created it. And I’ve done quite well under their status quo, as have many others. Worrying about cabals is like worrying about the weather, useless and unprofitable.

Stop worrying and take control of your economic life. It’s yours to make or break.

If the Bilderbergers picked 0bama, someone must’ve spiked their punch, or they’ve got a sick sense of humor. They’d better convene an emergency session to correct their error.

The elite make more in periods of war, unrest, etc., so obama was a logical choice for them.

The right believes in cabals. Just watch Glen Beck and Alex Jones. They think George Soros is the anti-Christ.

The left believes in cabals. PNAC, 9/11 Truthers, the Jewish international capitalists rule the world from New York City and control US foreign policy from Jerusalem. These morons think that Richard Melon Scaife, Rupert Murdoch and the Coch Brothers rule the world.

Freemasons, the Catholic Church, the Priory of Zion have been accused of ruling the world.

It is easier to blame a shadowy group for all your problems in life instead of taking responsibility for your own country.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t coalitions and factions that don’t work together, because we see the left-win coalition between unions, the media, the bureaucracy, and the Democratic Party in our own country, but that is fairly transparent and documented. Free Republic documents this every day.

The Founding Fathers predicted this type of faction in the Federalist Papers, which is why have a republic and divided government, but the responsibility to check unbridled power belongs to us. If we abdicate the power to the elites, that is our fault.
