Even though Penn and Teller are atheists, they don't spare any religion, or religious figures, and the Dalai Lama is no different, also a nice summery of why no one should be surprised that the Dalai Lama is a marxist.

"I was very young when I first heard the word communist. The 13th Dalai Lama had left a testament that I read. Also, some of the monks who were helping my studies had been in monasteries with Mongolians. They had talked about the destruction that had taken place since the communists came to Mongolia. We did not know anything about Marxist ideology. But we all feared destruction and thought of communists with terror. It was only when I went to China in 1954-55 that I actually studied Marxist ideology and learned the history of the Chinese revolution. Once I understood Marxism, my attitude change completely. I was so attracted to Marxism, I even expressed my wish to become a Communist Party member."
"Tibet at that time was very, very backward. The ruling class did not seem to care, and there was much inequality. Marxism talked about an equal and just distribution of wealth. I was very much in favor of this. Then there was the concept of self-creation. Marxism talked about self-reliance, without depending on a creator or a God. That was very attractive. I had tried to some things for my people, but I did not have enough time. I still think that if a genuine communist movement had come to Tibet, there would have been much benefit to the people."

Its like slavery, on steroids.....lots and lots of steroids.
Common sense. When you find Richard Gere, Steven Seagal and the Beastie Boys unified around a cause, you can be absolutely certain the cause, at its root, is stone cold evil.
Did the Dalai learn anything about the ‘cultural revolution’ and the 70 million deaths?
This is hard to square with other things the Dalai Lama has said, such as his description of how, when visiting with Mao at the age of 19, he was shocked by the negative statements Mao made concerning religion.
Even though? Huh?
Based on what he said, No.
Most marxists have the typical "if I was in charge, it would be different", or "It hasn't been given a real chance", or some other b.s. to explain away the failure.
Keep in mind, what he probably wants is a theocratic version of maoist marxism, thats not a nice peaceful loving thing, thats slavery that owns, body, mind and soul (and if he has his way, probably your afterlives).
Most western style "atheists", never ever attack religious figures outside of Christianity, mostly because the so called atheists here, are just anti-christian. When was the last time Bill Maher talked about hinduism, buddhism or shintoism ?
I still laugh when I remember Bill Maher, mr. atheist actually finding Penn and Teller offensive due to their religious views.......LOL
Marxists are the angry non-ruling class wanting to become the ruling class. That’s all. They do not seek equality and freedom for all. They seek to become the rulers, and their anger makes them brutal dictators.
This is explains the Hollywood Lefties like Richard Gere who act all down with “peace” and then embrace the horrific violence of communism/maoism. Doesn’t compute.
If one judges the dalai lamas by their words, then they are saints,if one judges by the actions, then the word monsters come to mind.
Not to nitpick but I believe the Albanian version was even more brutal as they cut ties with China for not being as hard lined as the Albanian regime.
Richard Gere would do something with gerbils if he though that conservative Americans would disapprove.
I just remembered a couple of "jokes" an Albanian I knew told me a few years back.
"What we do to our friends, makes our enemies cry, what we do to our enemies....they can no longer cry."
His other line was about brutality....."We know brutal, we do everything with brutality, we even drink our wine with the brutality that you reserve for your common criminals".
Agreed - I read a year or so ago when the Dalai Lama said he believed in socialism and didn’t like capitalism...now we find out he’s a hard-core Maoist. There’s no excuse not to know what that means - unless this is a very stupid man, which he may well be, he is not at all what his image appears to be. This is someone who has no respect for freedom or human rights — he rejects God and worships militant power to create & enforce “social justice.” Obama had it right when he had this dude ushered out the back door (albeit not for the right reason)
As creators of their video clips, they have all the power. To some degree, they abuse their power. But not so much so as does 60 minutes, 20/20, ABC news, CNN, Newsweek, CBS news, CNN, etc.
Caveat Emptor, even when it's free.
They seem to be members of the atheist right, along with Ayn Rand. I think this country was founded by the religious right. Ronald Reagan was a recent modern proponent of the religious right. By right, I mean individual rights, limited government, and free (at least relatively free) markets. In this context at least, religious means Judeo-Christian.
To me, the religious right is the branch of western civilization that works best and has the most merit. The oposing pole is the atheist left - Marxism, communism. There is also the religious left of a supreme religious state. I think this is the goal of Islam.

I'm mixed on them, but will give them credit, in that they don't push an agenda as much as they attack agendas.
Interestingly enough, Glen Beck actually confused Penn Jilette with being an example of a hollywood conservative (he's not), so it kind of shows what some of his views range to and from.
He is very hostile to all religions. I use him as an example of what a real atheist looks as opposed to people who are simply anti-christian (to put this in perspective, numerous other atheists actually find them offensive in regards to their views about and presentation of other religions....that tells you everything you need to know about secularists in the US). BTW, their view on marriage, is that the government should not be involved in it, period, not a popular view with any one, at all.
Sidenote: Penn Jilette, did mention he is not allowed to trash 2 religions, one is islam, due to fear for his own family, and also because the executives at showtime, fear reprisal against themselves and their families (he actually said this point blank, no double talk, he was pretty clear). The other is the church of scientology, due to a business arrangement showtime has with that church. I have no idea what that arrangement is, and he didn't elaborate (he also wasn't asked to).
