Very Long Total Lunar Eclipse Coming Wednesday

This month's full moon will pass almost directly through the center of Earth's shadow on Wednesday in what will be an unusually long total eclipse of the moon. The lunar eclipse will occur just two weeks after a June 1 partial solar eclipse, when the moon blocked part of the sun as viewed from Arctic regions. The eclipse won't be visible from North America due to its timing, which places the event in the daylight hours when the moon is behind the local horizon.

No...it's because Bush rejected the Kyoto Protocols. Global warming is causing the jet stream out of its normal path, pushing the lunar shadow away from the US.

Obama's had only two and a half years to stop the oceans' rise...he can't be expected to fix the lunar shadow too. Maybe the next stimulus bill can address that....

I should’ve guessed that the government was *somehow* responsible for this.

Oh, well...maybe the poles will shift before then and we’ll get to see it, anyway....:)

There's another lunar eclipse on Dec. 10, 2011, that will be visible in North America (wherever local weather conditions permit).

The next total solar eclipse to be visible in the 48 states will be on August 21, 2017 (path of totality will stretch from Oregon to South Carolina). It will be the first total eclipse of the sun visible in the US (outside of Alaska and Hawaii) since 1979...much better than a total lunar eclipse.
