It was only in late March when Mozilla released Firefox 4.0, but under their new development practices that are similar to that of Google's Chrome web-browser, Firefox 5.0 was released yesterday.

Firefox 5 is delivered under what Mozilla refers to as a "rapid release development cycle" and this release carries over 1,000 improvements in just about three months of development. Among the changes this time around is the Do-Not-Track privacy feature for the Android port of Firefox, improved add-ons, CSS Animations support, and many other new features.

must be all internal changes, cuz’ I’m using it right now, and it’s almost indistinguishable from 4.

I got an alert that it was out there yesterday. Anybody using it yet? I am using 4.0.1 and just wondering if it is worth up grading? I like the way I have it set up now and wonder if my add-ons will need up grading also?

QTWeb (Which is what I'm using right now) has had this feature for years now. And it's less of a memory hog.

I gave up on Firefox when it was in the 3’s and constantly crashed/froze. I take it you don’t have these issues with later versions?

Except for the NY Post, there’s a definite paucity on plays on words.

I just went to 5.0 this week and noticed no difference from 4.x.

I love Firefox and use microsoft only as a backup.

I installed it on my laptop earlier this week.

So far, I have been impressed with the speed. And, most of the extensions I use have been upgraded to work with v5.

It does lock itself into memory, so when it is ‘closed’ or ‘exited’, its core is still in the memory, from what I can tell in the WinXP Task Manager list.

I also use QTWeb. I like it as a fast loading browser when I want to view a video, etc. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, so I use FF for my main web surfing.

I just updated it last night, and now my RealPlayer won’t work with FF...for what that’s worth. Otherwise, I don’t see any difference.

It seems several are having problems with RP and FF5.

One bloggers issued this ‘fix’:

FYI

I updated and don’t notice much difference. I tried the App Tabs feature and promptly hated it. No matter what I set my browsing settings to, FF5 would NOT save my app tabs from session to session.

Meh, is the best word to describe this update.

My Firefox upgraded without me asking it to. I haven’t noticed any layout changes or problems with add-ons.
