DAUGHTER FOUND A JOB!
self | July 14, 2011 | swampsniper

Posted on 07/14/2011 10:25:57 AM PDT by SWAMPSNIPER

Mary starts next week and my son in law has 2 interviews for jobs he is thoroughly qualified to do.

Things are ecstatically chaotic around here today, we were almost looking for a nice bridge to live under.

Is that bridge still available? My wife is looking for a job, after battleing breast cancer for the past few years and I had to take a 20% paycut this week in order to keep my job.

Excellent news. Fingers crossed for son in law.

If you’ve found the ideal bridge, we might be needing it come the first of the year.

My daughter also got a job! After graduating with honors in Medical Records she could not get a job. All employers looking for experience.

She did unpaid volunteer work for two years and just got a part time job.

What a crazy economy!

You wouldn't stay there long, the traffic noise would drive you crazy...I have a crawl space you're free to inhabit if worse comes to worse. You might not like our winters tho.......

Congratulations!

Once she gets a couple of years under her belt, she will be golden. My cousin-in-law runs a practice and he is constantly finding mis codings, and mis-billings. His old records person was costing him tens of thousands a year. That person is gone, but a good one is worth their weight in gold.

Good luck to her.

Funny you mention the medical field. I was talking with one of my cousins this morning, she is a RN, and the subject came up that I had heard the medical field was booming or was the next great boom, etc. She told me no way. She explained the medical field has so many graduates out of work, and I said basically that I thought with all the baby boomers, that they were predicting such a need for medical staff.

She said that for years, many many women in the medical field worked part time, nurses, nurses aids, medical records, hospice, elderly care, etc, but with this economy, their husbands have been laid off, so they have been going full time, and the companies that employ them are taking advantage of those wanting to go full time to cut part timers, but this also means that those recently graduating have no jobs, because there is a glut of experienced people in the medical field.

She also said that many doctors offices have closed over the last year. I told her that I keep reading that is a myth, and she said “no way”, many many of the older practitioners have retired this last year, especially where she is at in Arizona, and that has also contributed to medical personnel being out of work.

Also, she said it really really helps to be bi-lingual, Mexican or Filipino, and those folks are coming from both countries with certificates in hand (that they get from Mexico and the Philippines) and are willing to work with no benefits, and at half the pay of the union counterparts who are American.

This is her report from Arizona, I’m in the Midwest, and I really don’t know much about our area, or the rest of the nation, just what she has related to me about her geographical location.

I was getting scared, all my life finding work was just a matter of pounding the pavement for a day or two. I’m almost 69, never drew unemployment once, although I had to take some less than choice jobs for a while. Sometimes I even had 2 of them at once, LOL, but they were there to be found!
