City council is pushing for a law (the major refuses to sign it) that restricts any group from forming anywhere that doesn’t first get CC approval. This applies to groups meeting in homes or wherever.
I’d love to see them try to enforce this “law.” FREEDOM OF ASSEMBLY is the right they seem to have forgotten.
Next step is of course ‘banning any not pre-approved thoughts’.
And that led to the children telling tales on their parents, their teachers, etc. in China. It is not as if we haven’t seen this before.
......Fox reports that even the city attorney tried to tell the council the proposal was illegal and violated the First Amendment. In return for his advice, Fox reported that “members tried to fire him.”
Kudos to this mayor. He seems like a good guy.

Carelessness on James Madison’s part. He forbade Congress from passing a law abridging the freedom of speech, but forget to say anything about local governments.
They need to be very careful of what they do next. People are fed up.

The Bill of Rights is jsut that, not a bill of things the federal government cannot do.

And being the Mayor, he can instruct the local police force (if there is one) not to enforce it!

minor point - the credit for the bil of rights should go to Patrick Henry, and the anti-federalists. Madison was a Federalist AFAIK.

I am sure the town council members who voted in favor of this measure do not understand what anyone is complaining about.
Nothing in the education they have received has taught them how wrong they are about the law they passed versus our rights.
