The War On Drugs
Self ^ | August 4 2011 | He Rides A White Horse

Posted on 08/05/2011 3:16:16 PM PDT by He Rides A White Horse

I rarely post an article, even more rare that I post a vanity. I feel that this is a topic that involves everybody, both pro and against. I have a few thoughts of my own, but I would also like to hear from heads and tails. Law enforcement, if they wish, please add your viewpoints; I am certain that you have a unique perspective. I'm hoping that this doesn't turn into a flame war.

I will submit from the start that I do not use drugs. So if anybody wants to issue a blanket statement that states 'If you don't use them, why be afraid if you have nothing to hide.' I regard that statement as analogous to 'if you have nothing to hide, why not submit to your house being search at will." Both statements are totalitaian canards by nature. They are disingenuous at best. Horrific at the worst.

There is something I want to address, a peculiar, non-traditional method that our government imposes, a dictum that seems to be the only solution for any problem that may arise.

Take the Second Amendment for example. Gun control (I often call it 'citizen control'). It appears that our government always addresses the lowest denominator possible. What I mean by this is that we have a relatively small group of people responsible for gun violence. In this scenario, the government responds by abrogating the rights of the many, law abiding citizens who are not guilty of these acts. Another example is the policing of what we eat. Same methodology. Restrictions are imposed on restaurants because a small group of people do not meet the physical 'requirements' that our politicians believe to be ideal.

This creeping type of political ideology is becoming more bold with every passing day. It is an invasion on all levels ranging from repealing 'don't ask, don't tell', to the blatant edicts emanating from Homeland Security. Which brings me to the crux of the matter. What and when is enough?

I will plainly state that I have had enough. How can any person state that we are fighting a War on Drugs and War on Terror with a straight face? We can simply declare that we have no borders and that could be stated with a straight face.

If you cannot (rather will not) find wave upon wave of illegal immigrants, how can you possibly expect to win both wars?

The reason is that such policies are intended for political expediency, and nothing more. Both parties are falling all over themselves to court the potential voting block. So what are they doing?

They are fighting a War on Civilians. Creating more and more alphabet soup agencies that it is mind numbing. This done out of 'sensitivities' so as not to offend Islam, illegal aliens, and other pet liberal groups.

The only people on the losing side in The War on Drugs are the average citizens who favor our disappearing Constitutional Republic. Our rights are being systematically destroyed, the Constitution is being fed into the paper shredder and it will not stop. Again, the question "what and when does it stop?". I for one have had enough. How do you feel?

Customs agents are a whole new agency different from BPA’s. They’re stationed at every port of entry. Way far away from their DC bureaucrats. They need to be made accountable to local jurisdictions.

Roger that.

Only armed manpower is going to stop it. Get rid of the BPA’s, the many who have family across the border and replace them with soldiers subject to the USMJS.

I have advocated this position. Politicians won't lift a finger.

My last post is true. They didn't even talk to her. Just left the house in shambles.

If someone announces to the world that they are going to go home and comit a crime what do you want the cops to do, ignore it?

You have your opinion, I have mine. It takes less than that at times. I made a statement about Homeland Security. Basically anybody who doesn't like Obama is a terrorist. Especially those in the Tea Party. So what is it? Are you a terrorist according to Napolitano, or are you a big Obama fan?

(The Right to Life came before the Right to Happiness)

I am in this category as well. Pro-lifers are being harassed in this country. It's almost a crime to be pro-life. Not yet anyway. That's how it starts.

I am not a libertarian. It’s not okay for people to use hard drugs and give them to their kids any more than it is to raise your kids as your sex slaves.

The War on Murder and Rape has also failed. Legalize it?

Your post is a total canard.

I don't remember advocating this position. I'm not a libertarian either.

She was crying and shaking. Coming apart.

You've revealed yourself, statist thug. You apparently believe that the Drug War Stasi should be able to toss the homes of law-abiding citizens if their minor children lose control of themselves in public.

You know, a minor child, as in "not responsible for themselves, or the things that come out of their mouths".

The fact that people have to live in fear of this sort of thing is testament to the fact of the American Police State.

And you're its cheerleader....

The fact that people have to live in fear of this sort of thing is testament to the fact of the American Police State.

The really tragic thing is that there are some passionate and well meaning conservatives that don't understand why liberals don't back ending the War on Drugs. They love the Police State architecture it provides. They'd support it if it was a War on Potpourri, Hip Hop music or LoLcat photos. What they gain far outstrips what they lose.

Not that we are any better. Rather than trust to education, personal responsibility and the basic notion that freedom is worth the occasional mess, many conservatives prefer the idea of a stomping a boot on the necks of people they consider sinners.

All well and good, until the liberals shift the laws a little more, and the boot winds up on FReeper necks for 'extremist website viewing'. Liberals think that conservatism is a sin, and lucky for us, we're already in the buisness of the government policing your soul.

The War on Drugs, at best, is conservatives pandering to old Puritan instincts instead of the wisdom of the Founding Fathers, and at worst, is a mechanism for liberals to enforce political control, once they finally seize power for good.

It may seem like I am meandering, but it all ties together. Group "A" commits a crime, we need another agency with a few letters on their backs. All citizens must give up certain rights also, because of a small majority.

So it goes with group "B", "C" and so on. I say it with all seriousness. We are a fledgling totalitarian state. I can't believe that some people here can't see it coming. We got the memo from Homeland Security, don't they remember? Might as well call that memo, "Mein Kampf". We were warned in advance.

All I'll ask you is if you support the Stasi tossing the woman's home because her minor child mouthed off in a school cafeteria.

Yea or nay?

If some one murders several people in a vicious and horrible manner most of us would agree to the execution of the murderer. Well doesn’t a drug dealer not murder hundreds if not thousands who die in overdoses or accidents or crimes that they would not been involved in except for their addiction. Does not a drug dealer enslave hundreds or maybe thousands in a life of prostitution or crime to pay for their next “rock”. Yes the profit motive in selling, importing dope is great. Your first offence only gets you 7 or 8 years in prison but you've made millions. The death penalty for dealers is justice for the crime. It seems that sometimes all we can do protect people from themselves until they wake up.....

Actually, most of my friends smoke the mellow, and most of them are conservatives, they believe no one represents them. I am a liveaboard sailor and my friends are all cruisers, your mileage may vary from my demographics... ;)

What am I?

The nanny/welfare state will collapse when austerity smacks us in the face.

If your livelihood is linked to the Drug War, then I'd say the answer to your question is... 'soon to be broke'.
