I’ve lived in Texas throughout the entirety of the Perry administration. He hasn’t been the most awful governor we might have had, but in truth, he’s been mediocre. It is true to say that Perry deserves a little credit for the better economic conditions in the state, insofar as he’s done no particular harm. On the other hand, it’s fair to say that part of the reason Perry’s done no particular harm, and perhaps the sole reason he hasn’t damaged the economy, is because the Texas people, through their legislature, won’t let him. The governor’s real shortcomings are not to be seen so much in the matter of economics, but in his unceasing drive to tamper with the freedoms and lives of Texans for the sake of his corporate cronies.
pgkdan, I’m not a “palinista.” I don’t have a dog in the race yet. (I like Herman Cain, who has a snowball’s chance in Texas of getting elected.)
Rather, I’m a conservative Texan.
We know Perry. We’re trying to tell you the truth about him.
I don’t want to be saying “I told you so” in a few years, but if Perry were to get elected, he might perform in Washington like he has here. If so, you’ll regret it.
He’s for sale. Stabbed us in the back one too many times.

I have a good friend, born, raised and still living in Texas.He recently told me that if Perry is the best we can put up, he will leave that box blank. I an truly saddened, I though we had something good in Perry. Doing a little investigating myself, I’m not sure he will carry the state of Texas if he get’s the nomination.
I didn’t know the Obama Campaign needed help in the politics of personal destruction.

We need somebody who can WIN this thing. That means somebody with cross-over appeal, which our Palen, Bachmann and Cain (no matter how much we love them) simply do not have.

Under Perry’s decade as governor, hundreds of Texas Democrats have followed his lead and become Republicans. As a former Democrat, Perry can speak to that swath of his former party that has become disenchanted with their party as President Obama has taken it even farther to the left, in a way that few Republicans can. He can also speak well and credibly to all wings of the national GOP, from the fiscal cons to the social cons to the libertarian set.
He would appeal to all segments of the Republican electorate and would come armed with a record of economic success and a commitment to liberty that no other contender can match.
Texas has been voted #1 business climate for the last seven years.
Texas has been getting all of California’s jobs.
Perry must be doing something right.
We need a good business guy right now.

Don’t know where you live, but I’m in North Texas.
The solution to traffic problems in Texas lies in convincing the DOT that all roads don’t have to go through DFW.
Not that DFW business will ever let that happen.
In order to drive from San Antonio (Austin, etc.) or Houston to any adjacent state, all the “good” roads go through DFW. That’s absurd and contradicts the DOT’s stated goals of reducing congestion and pollution.
What a boon it would be to West Texas to have a major highway between San Antonio and Wichita Falls. And connect Houston to Texarkana, bypassing all the DFW congestion.
Traffic should be dispersed throughout this big state. Instead, we wear out the Interstates and try to solve the problems by turning them into tollroads or adding more lanes (and construction) along already-overcrowded routes.
Just stupid.
And one of the many failures of the Perry years.
Perry attended Bilderberg meetings in 2007 and 2009, if i’m not mistaken. He’ll be the REpub nominee for that very reason. Soon he will be controlled by the Bilderbergs and the Council on Foreign Relations. Same reason McCain came back from the dead and became the nominee in 2008 - he’s a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. They control both sides.

The survival of the country is at stake this time around. Four more years of obama finishes us off. Perry isn’t perfect but he served his country. He’s pro God, pro guns, and pro life, pro jobs and he’s gaining on Romney. If he can keep us afloat for the next for years until we finally can sort out some up and coming conservatives, that’s good enough for me. For me, 2012 is about ridding America of the scourge known as obama.
Who is Palen?
In a perfect world things would be different and we would have many great conservatives with executive experience running. This is not a prefect world and I think the choice will probably come down to Perry or Romney. Given that choice, I would take Perry with no regrets. I seriously doubt Bachmann, Cain or any of the others will stll be around by the time the Texas primary comes up next year. Things may happen to change the race but that is the way I see it playing out if Palin does not get in.
Rather, I’m a conservative Texan.
I like Cain a lot too and would love to see him prevail...I'm not a Pery supporter, I don't know enough about him yet. And I'm open to learning more, I'm just sick and tired of the endless bashing of potential candidates by supporters of a certain unannounced but presumed candidate.
None of our announced candiates, or presumed candidates, are anywhere near as objectionable to conservatives as McCain and Guilliani were but I've seen Palin supporters call Mitch Daniels, Paul Ryan and Michelle Bachmann establishment RINO's. Rick Santorum has been called a RINO tool. It's ridiculous. These folks may not be perfect but they're ON OUR SIDE! I want to see an end to the character assasination of GOP candidates on FR. We get enough of that EVERYWHERE else!
