Oops, missed that.

Anyhow, you have no idea who ‘Dave the Cook’ is, do you?

Bourdain can be amusing at times, and a jerk at others, and at others an amusing jerk.

I still think my favorite episode had him going shooting with Ted Nugent on Ted's Texas ranch. To Tony's credit, he seemed to enjoy the heavy artillery.

Lady Bender's offshore Salmon fishing expedition on Monday is still paying dividends with a lunch of leftover baked Salmon steaks, cold taters and vine ripened Cherokee Purple tomatoes. Is it ethical to post the same photo twice on FR?

Guitar player for our band and myself, 15 years ago used to go to a place in downtown Sarasota after our restaurant shifts to enjoy a few Guinness at a similar place.

We would often stay there until they close watching Food Network shows.

Good times.

With mashed sweet potato, yes.

Not at all with standard mashed potato. Who told you that?

I have cooked for many restaurants in my time and so far NONE of them have used sugar in any mashed potato recipe as a specific ingredient.

Caramelized shallots are sometimes included to flavor the mashed potato, and a bit of sugar is used when you cook shallots like that.

Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.

'good times.'

As a keyboard man (B3, etc.), we always appreciated getting out into something different after the gig.
One mafia gig made us watch Italian movies and eat mama's spagetti before they would pay us.

You talk about good times.

I did nearly the same thing a few years ago.

I put two dishes out on our back deck. One had butter covered with birdseed, the other had margarine covered with bird seed.

The birds did not touch the margarine dish.

Sold me!

You are right about “Chopped.” Love the show, but rarely agree with the judge’s choice for winner. And if someone has a personal sob story, he or she will win no matter what.

Yep, growing up, that’s how Mom did it too. Baked w/ margarine through the year but ONLY butter at Christmas time.

Nowadays, I only buy butter, having read margarine is full of deadly stuff, not to mention, margarine has gotten expensive. I buy butter at Sam’s Club, I think it comes in a 4# package, which lasts quite a while.

One thing I hate about Chopped is watching tons of sweat roll of the faces of the contestents into the food they’re preparing. Yuk. Unfortunately, restaurant waiters also have this problem and it’s not appetizing. Hate to think what happens in the kitchens.

Your kid signed for it, look under her bed. The kid in red is our grandson and the basketball player is his best bud. They’re referred to a Tom and Huck in these parts. They caught 6 salmon in less then 2 hours on the Reel Steel and could have gone for Halibut in the remaining time but were too stoked.

OBTW... They both work for Lithia Dodge and have Sunday & Mondays off...

He had a show on the Food Network, and he left them because of the corporate BS.

Since Alton stopped making Good Eats I no longer watch anything on FN.

I love No Reservations, absolutely great show. He did one where he won an Emmy, showing the evacuations from Lebanon, but even his non-dramatic shows like the ones he filmed in Oz, Romania, Sardinia and other places are great.

Bourdain’s one of the folks I really admire...you should read his column where he attacks Sandra Lee, incredible writing.

Are his show sponsored by Betty Mae’s or Steve’s Coney Island or maybe Mike’s Garlic Fries? No! They are sponsored by corporates like units of ADM and Cargil etc...

Did you know Alton scripted every minute of every Good Eats? The man is a genius.
