I have the opposite view.

Cats provide nothing in return for the love and attention provided by the owner.
Dogs are eternally grateful for the least little attention.
They retrieve, protect, and play.

Dogs cannot be democrats. They work.

Ever seen a seeing eye cat?
Eskimo cat sled?
Police cat?
Drug sniffing cat?
cow cat?
watch cat?

Oh, yes they do. Love & affection back for starters, & I also get little birdies, mice & voles!

And I have the opposite view of that: my cats provide as much in return as and sometimes more than any of my dogs did. You have to pick/develop the right cat. I also have less maintenance for the cats. I simply pull the thick mill bag I put the cat box in inside out over the used litter and use a new bag and pour fresh litter. No letting them out on cold mornings, pushing them out the door when it’s raining, walking them or scooping the various piles all over. An occasional hairball is the worst I have to contend with and they keep the rodents and bugs out. As far as being republicans, they are very smart, discriminating in terms of people who are right and those who are not, they are self-sufficient and not overly dependent on you for much. My cats understand my wife and I completely, my dogs never quite got to that point.

You must not know cats too well. The ones I’ve been around are appreciative, some even play fetch.

Which sounds precisely like come core voting blocs that the Democratic party counts on support from in every election.

Not true at all.All of my kitties have always provided much love and affection for what they were given.
