Here is a funny thing - when I go out to plow in the winter, the ditches are full of ... audis.

Operator, head space, and timing.

A lot of people don't know this, including some current owners I bump into, but the Packard Caribbean had reversible front seats. One side is leather and the other is cloth. Those cars are a very high quality cars for their day. I can't believe how fast they went down hill into the Packabaker era.

Thanks for the great pic..

I'm positive ours had the big Packard hood ornament..sort of a "Winged Victory" IIRC.

My dad worked for Packard after the war, then Packard merged with Studebaker..I remember him bringing home the Silver and Golden Hawks, which I always thought were beautiful cars, far superior to anything else being made in the USA. Raymond Loewey was a design genius. And or course, later on, Studebaker's last gasp..the Avanti. I drove one the first day I got my learner's permit..

[The drums are just too unpredictable.]

Yeah, one drum will grab and pull. Or they will heat fade, or get slick, or whatever.

Geez. A Hawk. Studebaker really made some high performance stuff. Hawks are some of the best sports cars of the day. And an Avanti. Your old man had taste. If you dig deep, the Avanti is the car that sank Studebaker. They put so much money into the development of the car, they couldn't stay alive.

I have a Studebaker in my barn with all the other old iron. A Gravely L.

Unlike this one, mine is all original. The mower attachment should be red.

Not everyone is stupid enough to live where it snows. Why should gomers who live in the ice and snow dictate an inferior design(FWD) for 90% of driving conditions that everyone else who lives in a decent clime would enjoy? Fool. Eat snow.
