I’m anti tech. We really need to get away from this digital age. How much tech can we absorb? It’s great getting away from it all. What are you doing to get away from it all? I’m done, we don’t need it anymore.

Where are you at?

Ok, from now on:

1) Write your post on a piece of paper.

2) Mail the piece of paper to the address at the bottom of this page.

3) Jim Rob will open your letter and using thumbtacks stick your piece of paper on a cork board in his office.

4) Anyone who wants to read your post will travel to Fresno to read it in Jim Rob's office.

5) They can then respond by writing their response on another piece of paper and tacking it up on the cork board next to yours.

6) Every time we all come to his office to read Free Republic, Jim Rob can hit us up for contributions to buy more cork boards.

That low tech enough for you?

Tech is good, but many people need to dial it back.

It's getting to be a genuine rarity to run into someone in public and make eye contact with them and smile and say "Hi." More often than not, they're plugged into their iPod or texting away as they walk and grinning like a fool at some tiny screen in front of them.

I saw one girl sitting at a bus stop look up, startled, as her bus sped past her. If she hadn't been listening to her iPod, she would have noticed it and not missed it.

I almost had an accident on an escalator the other day. The woman in front of me was moving verrrry verrry slowly up the stairs and I thought she wouldn't disembark in time and I'd end up in a horrible accident falling backwards. What was she doing? Texting.

Oh, and this is CA, where drivers aren't supposed to be on handheld cell phones but this is roundly ignored. Drive at your own risk.
