It's one of the most famous flags in American history, destined to take its place alongside Francis Scott Key's star-spangled banner and the symbol of sacrifice and triumph at Iwo Jima.

It's the flag hoisted at Ground Zero on Sept. 11, 2001, by three New York City firefighters, immortalized in the photo by The Record's Tom Franklin and taken to heart by millions as an emblem of the loss and heroism of that horrible day.

And nobody knows where the flag is.

Signed by Bloomberg and Giuliani?

Isn’t that sort of presumptuous? To write ANYTHING on an American flag? Like, “How dare you?!” presumptuous?

I’ve heard a lot of lunacy this Sept. 11th — no clergy allowed at the ceremony, that old hippy Paul Simon singing his nonsensical song — but this “signing the flag” business takes the cake so far.

another one to add to the insult.

On the memorial the name of Fire Chaplin Mychal Judge, was denied the title of Fr.

When they put his name on the memorial, they did not recognize him as a priest.

Wow... That’s really awful. Why do people insist on “sanitizing” everything like that - so as not to “offend” someone??? I will NEVER understand that...NEVER.

REST IN PEACE Fr. Judge - you will never be forgotten. The fireman say that you were taken that day so that you could continue your mission in heaven to welcome home all the brave firefighters lost that day.

The yacht owners & attorneys obviously smell money. Disgusting.

>>If it had been my flag, I would simply visit it to honor those who raised it and to those they raised it to, WITHOUT SAYING A WORD!<<

Very Buddha-like. I like it! :)

"Very Buddha-like."

Taking the entire comment that you meant that as a compliment, I would retort that my view of humility came from the teachings of a far higher order, in the way I was taught. But thank you for the compliment in any regard, namaste.
