Anybody else see this?? (TV)

Posted on 09/27/2011 8:29:53 PM PDT by djf

Last night I was channel surfing and happened across about the last minute of a show called "Mike and Molly"

It was, as far as I can tell, the final closing credits.

It showed somebody holding an Ipod or some kind of hand-held and they were flicking through a bunch of pictures. Presumably, the stars. even though the two people in the pictures were clothed, it was totally obvious from the first picture *there were about 8 of them) that the two people were in sexual positions.

I was just wondering if other FReepers had caught this and what they thought. Do we really need demonstrations on TV of how obese people have to go through acrobatics to do it?

I, for one, was totally disgusted. Do they not even have censors/standards on network TV anymore?

Not a surprise. No, they don’t really censor TV any more unless its egregious. There is NO show on TV fit for family viewing. None.

The pictures were of Molly at Yoga class and her instructor helping her.

of course there are standards if it was on a broadcast network (ABC, NBC or CBS)

Mainstream cable has managed to keep some standards although it is not a legal issue for them.

dont normally see anyone stripping naked or using the f bomb unless it is HBO. thats fair enough.

I watched that last night. It was taken out of context. Molly was taking a yoga class, and her sister thought that the way the yoga instructor was helping her get into the proper yoga positions looked sexual. Her sister thought it would be something funny to show at her bachlorette party.

Hey, fat people need romance too!

My wife loves that show, yet neither one of us is fat, well, at least I’m not obese.

2 fat people dating each other show.

You’d have to pay me to watch it.

Chuck Lorre is the executive producer of this show.

He's also responsible for "Two and Half Men", "Big Bang Theory" and other bad shows. He relentlessly emphasizes tawdry sex jokes. I don't think he understands that other kinds of humor are also acceptable.

If you don’t like what’s on tv don’t watch. I watch baseball, that’s about all. If I want to watch a movie or something I’ll rent it.

If you have Puritan standards there are endless television shows from the 50’s and 60’s available on DVD.

There can be naked people on broadcast nowadays. I think the first one after the new rule was a dead woman’s body shown fully, on that cop show Ricky Shroeder was on.

is there a prime time broadcast show that does not emphasize tawdry sex jokes?

My sister was watching TV tonight I heard the punchline “I was masturbating” on at least 3 of them.

That is why kids are so messed up these days.

They will be airing kiddie porn pretty soon at this rate.

A fair comment, I suppose. I remember watching "Happy Days" and "Laverne & Shirley" with my parents when I was growing up. Those were not really high quality shows -- but a family could sit together and watch them. It was nice. You just can't watch TV like that any more.

I guess just about all shows today are tawdry and overly sexual. But I would still maintain that Chuck Lorre tries very hard to push the envelope on network TV. The man desperately wants to produce crap, and he succeeds.

That’s kinda what I’m saying.

Under the guise of “fat acceptance” we get to see some trash and if we complain, then we’re picking on fat people.

Homosexuality has already become pretty much run of the mill on TV.

What’s next? Mass murderer stand up comedy?

“Mike & Molly”? I think Molly just won the best actress Enmy.

Have not/will not watch it. Nope.

I basically only watch NatGeoWild, Military Channel and DIY Channel these days. Oh, and I’ll cherry pick Wonder Years episodes on the Hub Channel.

I’ve become hooked on “Dog Whisperer”.

I’m not even watching NFL anymore.

Turned off television for good two years ago. Didn’t see it. Don’t miss it. Life is brief.

Eeeewwwww.

I guess this is why I don't watch a lot of TV.

I do like "South Park, though and that one can get pretty gross.

Wasn’t it Newton Minow that said “TV is a vast wasteland”?

There’s a “comedy” based on Whitey Bulger that’s going to star John Malkovich as a friendly serial killer in pre-production.

IIRC, one of the producers from Seinfeld is behind it. It was in the Boston Herald last week.
